Staffords/Brain Tumour

Was just looking to find out what people thought of that story - about his wife and her brain tumour.

I thought it was quite the story and challenge.

Thoughts? I thought it was quite epic - but I haven't been following it much more than just the recent stories around the superbowl press coverage.

I thought it was quite moving seeing the clip of her running up to him after the 49ers game where he says something like: "I still have some work to do" - going to the superbowl.

Wow - changed my mind about him quite a bit. I have to admit that I didn't know/don't know too much about him. But after seeing a little bit of this and comparing him to what appears to be the Mahomes travelling circus (OMG) - I can't help but think that Stafford is a solid dude.

But, again, just seen the story recently. It takes character to stay by someone and help them though shit like this.

I hate the Rams, I remember seeing them destroy us in the early 2000s and no matter how bad they were, they've always been a thorne in our side. Doesn't matter if it was Jeff Fischer, Spagnolo, Martz or McVay, the Rams always have punched us in the nose.

That being said if the Rams win, I couldn't even be mad. I really would like to see Stafford get a ring sometime. Matt Stafford has always been a fierce competitor and a leader. He always put everything on the line every time he played, often times sacrificing his body, even in losing seasons. The guy has a grit about him, if he were on the Green bay Packers, he'd probably be hailed as the next Brett Favre. There is a certain fire in him that you have to respect.

He's a Larry Fitzgerald sort of character, even though he is on another team it's really hard to hate on the guy. He's my favorite non-Seahawk player in the division. He's just a guy that puts his nose to the grindstone without any fanfare.

Nice post - and I wouldn't have always agreed with you - but I do now.

I like the Fitzgerald reference. True - I could never be mad at Fitzgerald - he's the gold standard for just showing up, not bitching and getting it done!

It's like a Bwagz thing. You either got quiet confidence and capability - or ya don't.

Anyhow - the story really made me respect him quite a bit. I've been in a similar-ish situation - and I respect him for it.

Stafford is a good guy.

Rams drafted both Bradford and Goff, so you just kinda accept them as your teams QB and ride the ride - good or bad.

Was a different experience being given a QB I’d been vaguely aware of for years as now my teams QB.

Now having spent the season - both on the field and off of it, he is solid.

As much as I want the Rams to win it all this Sunday, there is definitely an awareness that his story is beyond just the Rams.
