So why can’t Jody purchase the team?

She has proved that she can be the Executive as she has made some really solid decisions as of late and one can tell she loves the team and fan base.

Is there anything that prevents that?
Buy it with what money? Isn't she basically just the manager of Allen's estate?

Wasn't there some weird happenings between Jody and Paul when Paul purchased the team?

What sucks for her, is she has to sell the team, and donate the money.

This would be the ideal scenario - the show keeps rolling as is with complete control for Schneider and Co. - but I never even considered if it was a possibility. That’s still a huge chunk of one’s estate to invest. No idea if she has other philanthropic efforts or goals for herself.

A quick search indicates her net worth to be 20 Billion
I'm sure that's including things that aren't actually hers...like the Hawks, and assets that were earmarked for charity. I doubt she has anywhere near enough money to buy the team.

Poor girl. If she buys the team, she will only have 8 billion left in her account. I feel for the rich.

That’s still far more than Cuban has. He would be upside down if he bought the team. He would be Marc Davis financially, but with Jerry’s ego.

Doesn’t have the money and even if she did it would be a conflict of interest

I would be absolutely thrilled if somehow LEGALLY she can buy the Seahawks with a 49% portion and have fans/investors donate for the other 51% to keep the team in good ownership. There's gotta be a way this can happen, right?

Sounds stupid but I don't want Jody to sell the team to some billionaire scumbag who might just ruin the franchise.

there is no scenario where fans 'donate' to own part of the team. NFL ownership prohibits more than 25 owners of a team. The Packers are the exception and grandfathered in since the 1960's as publicly owned. Any scenario where fans pool their money to buy some of the Seahawks is impossible and pure fantasy.

More than likely it will be a Group of owners. In a group of owners, one has to have at least 30% controlling share in the team. (See the Washington Commanders sale for reference.) Per Paul's Will, the money from the sale goes to his Philanthropy endeavors. This stipulation causes a bit of a problem for folks that want to buy the team. The 8 billion basically has to be 'cash' in this case. Not a lot of folks with access to that kind of 'cash'. I was personally hoping the First Nations could get together and buy the team. But I'm not sure even they could make that happen. (Or want to)

That’s incorrect. She manages (technically is the trustee of) Paul Allen’s estate, which is valued at approximately 20 billion.

She is not the beneficiary of the estate, so that is not her money to use as she pleases, his will directs where the money goes, and how it is used.

Her personal net wealth is not publicly available, and while I’m sure Paul set her up nicely, and she has had some success on her own, it is unlikely that it is anywhere near large enough to have the spare 3-5 billion cash it will take to be the controlling owner in this purchase.
