So why can’t Jody purchase the team?

Maybe she knows the best time to leave is when you're on top...

I recently read something that had an interesting idea. Since the money goes to charity, anyone that wants to donate 10B to charity could do so and get the Seahawks in return. I think the article mentions Mackenzie Scott and Melinda Gates but it's relevant to any Billionaire that has a desire for their money to go to Charity. It's not quite the same tax write-off, and you're not choosing the charities (youre relying on Paul) but it's an interesting way to look at the sale. The Seahawks end up with an owner that's generous and charitable and more interested in others as opposed to an owner that's rich and egotistical and needs to be the center of attention....

I don't think she wanted it in the first place. Just carrying out her brother's wishes. She is a very private person they say. Doesn't like the limelight. Maybe that's why.

Just an FYI for people that want to crowdfund the ownership, it's no longer allowed. Green Bay is grandfathered in. NFL changed the rules in 1960. Max number of owners allowed is 25 members.

One article said that she wants to buy an interest in the Seahawks, but they didn't say how much of an inerest.

Must run in the family then, true?
Really makes you appreciate what we had in Paul. I can't believe he was ever associated with Gates and Ballmer to begin with. They famously tried to stab him in the back.

She has proved that she can be the Executive as she has made some really solid decisions as of late and one can tell she loves the team and fan base.

Is there anything that prevents that?
She don't want it and it will go to the highest bidder.

there is no scenario where fans 'donate' to own part of the team. NFL ownership prohibits more than 25 owners of a team. The Packers are the exception and grandfathered in since the 1960's as publicly owned. Any scenario where fans pool their money to buy some of the Seahawks is impossible and pure fantasy.
Well, surely she could find 24 other investors that believe in the team and want it to succeed enough as well as stay in Seattle to help her purchase it, right?

Regardless, it's hard to determine whether she wants a part of it or not at this point in time. She could've bought it or made a way to buy it with other investors at a lower price sooner than now, yet she probably was just trying to avoid the WA tax if the team was bought in/before 2025.

I hate this so much. The Allens did such a great job to make this team relevant and STAY relevant, I hate knowing that this team COULD go down the drain via a scumbag billionaire who either doesn't care about the team at all (only the potential income they could get from it), OR someone like Jerry Jones who keeps sticking their fingers in the pie and ruining things time and time again because they THINK they're the smartest ones in the football room.

yes, theoretically Jody could find 24 other investors and try to buy the team. what is not possible is that you are going to have 100,000 Seahawks fans put up $50K each to purchase shares in the team. that scenario is out.

bottom line is this sucks. we have had one of the best ownership groups in the NFL for almost 30 years. the odds are the next group will not be as good. I am very glad we won the Super Bowl now because the future is unknown, and unknown in this case is scary. I would make a condition of the sale that you can't fire JS or MM for at least 10 seasons.

Buy it with what money? Isn't she basically just the manager of Allen's estate?
The report I read is that she is a billionaire several times over and might very well remain as a part owner, with a couple of her billionaire friends. One of those pals mentioned was Melinda Gates, and another I don't recall. She has proven she can manage, she loves the team and the sport. I'm sure she also loves the limelight. Could very well happen we'll see.

That’s what I’m thinking as well…

Its clear she has warmed to the team and is focused on doing what’s best for the team…

Everyone here trusted Jody to run the franchise for all these years; it's easy to trust her to sell to someone who will make all of us happy. She isn't just going to go with the highest bidder; she will make sure the winning bidder conforms to her and our wishes.
Fear not, the team is and will remain in good hands.
