So what's the plan for NT?

Got a couple undrafteds in Bubba and Thor. But that does seem to be the one weak spot

That's my only major concern coming out of this draft. Was certain we would take one nose tackle, maybe two. We are wasting Murphy's talents using him at nose.
Can I ask you a legit question? Why do you think his talents are being wasted?

We do realize that Murphy averaged around 40 snaps per game when he was fully healthy? That's about on par with Reed and a little less than Williams.

Contrary to what people think, the team rarely aligns in true 0-tech snaps. Maybe 10-15 snaps per game. Byron Murphy plays a lot of 3T and shade techniques. He does so because he is stout and he can penetrate. You can disguise a little bit more. He still rushes the passer contrary to what people think. Towards the end of the season, Hankins played about 15 snaps per game. This is who we are clamoring for?

What does a "true NT" mean in the modern NFL? Well, someone is going to have to take Murphy's snaps (~40 per game). Murphy is going to have to take Reed's job.

I think the team is perfectly content with its rotation. I would say they can use another big dude. I wouldn't rule out a Hankins' reunion.

That's my thought as well. I want to get Murphy out of that position most snaps. This draft was heavy in nose tackle and we passed multiple picks.

Using Murphy as NT is kind of a waste IMHO. I'm not sure what the thinking is.

They could always just pickup whomever gets cut in the coming days. I doubt some of these teams who drafted NT can justify holding onto so many, Pittsburgh for instance has about half a dozen on their roster now.

I just explained what the thinking was up top.

I think a lot of people have a ton of misconceptions of what a NT is and how the Seahawks use Murphy.

You posted it as I was writing mine. That was a great explanation.

There arw multiple UDFA nose tackles available. I have not seen and commitments yet so they could have been accounted for but they are out there.

I haven't heard any coaches ever talk about moving Murphy. I mean it's been discussed around here as a hypothetical.

So as of now they list Quinton Bohanna 6'5 330 and Bandon Pili 6'3 334 behind Murphy. Whether they feel one of those guys can legit fill the role, who knows.

I think of a nose tackle as a massive dude who sits over the center and almost takes on both guards and center. Someone like that and Murphy will get to the qb a lot

I think of a Ted Washington type of player. Which is appropriate since Ted was basically the size of Washington. 😁
