I'm not going to freak out over the team being financially responsible or over paying. Let's see how the squad looks comes July. JS did a good job picking up free agents last summer on good deals, could do that again.

This time last year JS got slaughtered by many for trading geno and DK and people freaking out about who our qb would be.
To be honest I don't remember that being the case. Many, (and probably the majority), of members here were of the opinion that a change was needed at QB1. Most understood that another QB being better or worse was a 50-50 proposition, but sticking with mediocrity wasn't desirable. Many were tired of Metcalf's antics and understood the potential downside of keeping him on the final year of his contract at below market salary. Most could see that Smith-Njigba had already transitioned into WR1 status.

Please note that I did NOT say the team would be bad. I said it would not be the same. I’m just disappointed that so many of our (okay, MY) favorite players will be gone.
You're not wrong.

I'm not wrong either.

It was an overreaction...

To form an opinion I need three weeks and the draft, as I have stated it's liars poker time in the league till after the draft. No use giving myself a heart attack over rumours and perceived possible scenerios.

I get plenty of palpatations during the season as it is.

Hawkblogger has turned in to such drama poster. "Godspeed Rashid"? So He's signed with someone else already? No, he hasn't, but HB is willing to "bend the truth" to get those clicks. Personally, I find it dishonest, and it reflects poorly on his reputation as a straight shooter.

We've been seeing too much of this crap since we won the Superbowl, and I've turned it all off, finding my reading elsewhere because people are talking such shit now. According to them, Ken Walker, and every other FA we have, has been gone for weeks now, Dexter Lawrence has retired, they've traded all of our draft picks and 3 players for Maxx Crosby, and all of our coaches are going to work somewhere else.

It's desperate, beat the other guy to the punch reporting. Just like the "Emergency podcast! The Seahawks are going to be up for sale!" What garbage. Posting old news as breaking news.

The only place I read anymore is on here, and the regular draft sites. Even some of those I've clicked on less and less. I look at the overall draft picture, to see what every other team is doing, and trying to figure out how that's going to effect us.

But these headlines playing things off as breaking news, and the player is already gone, pure bs. John lets players test free agency every year, this is nothing new. The ones that get overpaid, end up somewhere else and get replaced by another player who, next year at this time, will be played off as "irreplaceable."

Oh yeah, Paul Moyer, the one that said we'd go undefeated with 5 or so games left, said that DeMarcus Lawrence is not retiring, "He's making good money, had one of the best years of his career, and is having the time of his life. But the pundits keep bringing up, "he was thinking of retiring last year." Yeah, long before he came across the Seahawks.

If he was so in to retiring last year, then why was he hunting up teams to play on last year? Why did he sign a multi-year contract? Utter bs.
Not a fan of hawk blogger. But with the slow off season, I’ll tune in from time to time. But basically all his material is click bate.

Lose Walker?
Lose Shaheed?
Lose Bryant?
Lose Mafe?
Lose Woolen?

WE.DID.NOT.CARE.
Shaheed I like and want back. K9 was finally what I thought he would be the last 7 games of his career here. But you could tell last summer, they like Charbs better.

Bryant? There are 5 guys just as good in the draft, for less than he wants.

Mafe? This teams always “could be”, but never was

Woolen. If we had kept Mike Jackson, he would have been traded mid season.

I think a lot were okay with DK going but in the media and places like twitter people were freaking about Geno being traded then how it was a down grade when we signed Darnold etc.

I don’t mind watching his podcasts, he seems like a good dude but he falls pray to every other YT’ber which is to create click bait thumbnails for all their videos to get you to click on it.

There are certainly some guys I'm hoping to keep, but I don't think anyone we could lose is absolutely vital. My bigger concern with the likelihood of "running it back" is sustaining our incredible injury luck, particularly after playing a 20 game season.
I always say the luckiest teams regarding injury and solid backup depth are serious playoff contenders

I think that's a slight over-reaction. The Seahawks moved on from the 'media designated' QB1, WR1, & WR3 and brought in Darnold, Kupp, and Valdes-Scantling. Most people, (myself included), thought that the 2 WRs were a net downgrade whilst the QB could go either way. Additionally there were doubts about the health or quality of all 5 OL positions and only 1 starting position was addressed, (plus Jones at swing T). The media wasn't wrong to have doubts. It's a credit to the Seahawks that multiple players upped their game, the offense gelled quickly, and the team stayed relatively healthy.

Just a public service announcement that we won the Super Bowl less than one month ago.

John is always looking for great value and is not a "kick the can down the road" type of GM. I've been critical of and frustrated by some of his past moves. But fresh off his 2nd Lombardi, he's earned the benefit of the doubt. And prepare yourself for lots of crickets on the first few days of free agency. It's just how he rolls.

Brady actively gave discounts of $5m+ per season, back when that was a lot of cap space. Then they got smaller discounts from WR/TE who wanted to work with Brady.
As much as I'd love to see the Hawks replicate it here, we just don't have the right ingredients. The Patriots had a very special situation. We're merely in a very good situation.
I disagree that the hawks can't replicate the effect. On top of the potential to get players rings, MacDonald appears to be the type of coach that can make above average defensive players look elite. So take an inflated above average player contract from a shit team or come here, take a reasonable 1 or 2 year contract, possibly get a ring and then go elsewhere and get an elite player contract.

Part of being able to replicate what the Pats did is not keeping players around because of emotional attachment. JS seems to be perfecting the balance of being ruthless while treating players fairly.
