How convenient!

Dempsey misses our next 3 games but I bet you USSF will only ban him from future USOC games - leaving him free to play in the Gold Cup.

So it looks like the Sounders will be without him for SEVEN games if he is not banned from USMT.

This is total BS....

Hopefully Dempsey will tell USMT he has to play for Sounders in July to try and level the uneven playing field the USSF has created by allowing absolute muppets to referee huge games.

He could also just not rip up a ref's notebook like a petulant child.

Yeah, but now he's a club legend...so...take the good with the bad.

Sounders will be fine without Dempsey through July. We have a deep squad. We'll be fine.

...sure would be great if Jordan Morris signed...

Didn't Morris pretty much say he's staying at Stanford for the time being in April after he scored for the USMNT?

I think if he was anywhere but Stanford, he would have already left.

Yeah, he said that. But was at Tuesday's game. Situation seems to be pretty fluid. Until he has a contract somewhere, anything can happen.

If Oba's injury wasn't up in the air at the moment, I'd agree with you. But no Oba AND Clint for most of July a possibility? Better hope we play good defense and Frei's on his game.

Oba is out 3-6 weeks. Pretty much same as Deuce.

Yeah, losing our top 2 players sucks...but we are a deep squad. We'll get through it.

Dempsey will be back with the club on July 3. The three matches he misses all take place in an eight day span.

This wouldn't bother me so much if Barrett wasn't hurt. He practised yesterday but pulled re injured himself.

Got to hope Neagle steps up or Pappa can grab a few from midfield. Darwin Jones has looked nervous any time he has played so have no idea how good he is.

The League (MLS and USSF) are deflecting from the real story...which is ...that the quality of the referees is not keeping pace with the improving and increasing intensity of US Soccer.

Dempsey got frustrated , the same way any of us would in our professional life if our work was being destroyed by some clown who was supposed to know what he was doing.

Screw it , why not ban him for life. The way the PRO is going on you would swear someone was assaulted. "We fear for the safety of our referees"....boo hoo. Why not train them properly! Why not bring in more foreign experienced refs.

Stop deflecting from the real story which is why was this referee so biased and wrong in his calling of the game.

No disagreement. But Referees are wrong all the time. Its an unfortunate but consistent part of every sport. Dempsey has dealt with worse in far more important games.

He was being a brat.

To be seen what it costs his team.

I doubt he plays that match. Gold cup starts July 7th and usually there is a small camp before hand.

Duh. Lol.

Also, tactically that was a nightmare. We played a 451 with Rose playing some sort of poor mans Fellaini role...it was just trash.

Then we lost Evans to a groin injury, and rose tweakes his hammy.

Neagle isnt good enough to be up top by himself. Jones or Mansaray should have gotten the start up top alongside him...

Pappa should have been the focal point, but was forced to play out wide.

So lets get this straight - USSF gives no ban so Dempsey can play in Gold Cup and miss SEVEN Sounders regular season games PLUS risk injury.

I'm trying to be a strong supporter of US Football and the MLS but they are making it so hard!!!

Club or Country - Your decision Clint

Final roster hasn't been called yet...but I'd be shocked if he doesn't play. This is potentially his last major competition.

Not even a question, nor should it be.
Agreed.

If your country comes calling, you play. No higher honor than putting on that shirt.

I figure it's time for a new thread for the new year.

Seattle's home opener has been announced. Sunday, March 8, 6:30pm PT, vs. New England Revolution, televised nationally on Fox Sports 1.
It's getting interesting now....those Canucks are thinking they can play soccer. Well we're better as women so why not as men.

I'm just here not to get fined. And to ask why anyone considers soccer an actual sport. And maybe protect Si if I care to. ;)

I couldn't agree more. But why do clubs have to play during International competitions when their best players are gone?
Sounders will play the whole month of July without Brad Evans, Clint Dempsey & Marco Pappa. This combined with all the injuries we have now will probably cost us the supporters shield. We can win the MLS Cup if we are full strength at the end of the Season (and of course we don't drop too many points over the next six weeks) but clubs shouldn't have to deal with this.

What would happen if the Seahawks lost Wilson and Lynch for the month of October to some other competition (where they could potentially get injured) - It wouldn't be tolerated.

At the very least sync the calenders so the teams that are providing players to the USMT are not getting penalized,

That's all.

No Actually - its not all.

USSF could have followed correct protocol and banned Dempsey for USOC and International matches but they didn't.
Actually the precedent was USOC matches only.

I love me some USMT but I support the Sounders week in week out and this blows.
