When John Schneider got passed over for GM of the year, he got a chip on his shoulder...kind of like what we've seen in the Legion of Boom, and from our 5'11" QB. There is fear in the hearts of NFL GM's now, when they think of that red-headed kid in Seattle.

I'm late to the party but holy shit. If I had posted an offseason plan that had Avril at 2/15 and Bennett at 1/5, everyone would obviously assume I was smoking crack.

Amazing.

Well, you're not pe so I don't know about the crack, but definitely some Grade-A somethin'.

I can't even attempt to get any sleep. I'm in a state of shock/excitement/anticipation. My birthday, the 8th, was one of the crappiest days of the past week or so when compared to the events of March 11-14. I'm so glad John Schneider's getting his national due after getting mugged for Executive of the Year this past season.

I like your angle on this.

Not sure if this was mentioned already, but Jason Jones signed for just 3 years $9.5 million. Normally you'd ask why Seattle would pass on such a bargain contract, but it appears they were probably in on Bennett at the time.

I wonder if they see Bennett as a Jason Jones type or as more of a pass rushing 5-tech alternative to Red Bryant? Maybe a little of both?

Was just thinking that who knows, maybe 1 of Avril or Bennett turns out to be a monster and we get first dibs on keeping them next season. I could especially see Bennett being everything we wanted Jason Jones to be and more. More durable, stronger against the run, and not as easily washed out of the play. Not to mention the fact that we never should have let go of him in the first place, he's a good pass rusher, and Tampa used him inside in their nickel so it won't be anything new here.

I could see Avril having a very Chike Okeafor-like career while with Seattle, only a bit more explosive and probably productive considering that he's more athletic and playing on a much better team. Okeafor, a Purdue Boilermaker just like Avril, led Seattle in sacks during 03 and 04, his only two seasons with the team (16.5 sacks). I don't think he'll lead the team in sacks like Okeafor did (I think Bruce will have something to say about that), but I could see him having a similar type of impact before moving on to a bigger deal elsewhere.

Should be interesting to watch both of these guys careers here in Seattle.

Crazy that with Jason Jones available for 3yr/$9.5M, Bennett is even more of a bargain, imo, at 1/5. I never would've guessed that.

I'm hoping they see him as both, but primarily as a Jason Jones type. I'd like to see him spell Red on occasion as I think he could do some damage as a change of pace/style from Red. That could actually be quite the tandem out there. I love him as a pass rusher at the 3-tech though. I think that's where he'll make his biggest impact for the Hawks. His versatility is a great problem to have.

Thinking the same about both, hell maybe franchise or place 1st round tender on Bennett next off-season and make some room to keep both for a few more seasons. Even if they leave and we only get 2nd or 3rd round picks for either it's a win/win for us.

1 yr 5 million is an insane contract for a pass rusher the caliber of Bennett, it's all gravy from here on out. Going to be a lot of fun watching this team this year.

When JS said he wanted to be in every free agents ear, I didn't think it would lead to the moves they've made so far this off season.

He's one busy dude!

Can we stop with the porn and sex references already? Completely unnecessary and I'm pretty sure not the right forum for it.
Yeah, I expect a certain degree of "guy talk" on football forums, but it is getting a bit much lately.

Pete said he was in a meeting prior to his call for a radio station the other day talking about 6 players, well there are still 4 left......

Also the talk of cutting Clemons that keeps coming up, he did nothing to warner getting cut, they said he is on schedule, Pete said he's in the plan. The only thing I can see happeneing is contract restructuring for some players. We need a big body inside still, Branch should I think be resigned unless were waiting for another cut somewhere unknown to us.

Bryant was put in the 5T by Quinn, he had a foot problem most of last year and people seem to forget his job is to toss bodies out of the way and collapse the edge on running plays, not get QB sacks. I think he is safe as well.

Quinn is assembleing a D line that is dynamic to match Petes secondary and LB's.

These players on defense now are young, fast, nasty and want you to come at them so they can send you back to the huddle with your manhood in question. Bennett is another chip on his shoulder guy, Avril has something to prove as well getting out of Suh's shadow.
