Damn. Really liked him, but he was playing well against fellow beer delivery guys, so it's hard to say how things will turn out. At least we got Holani back, which was the riskiest release, IMHO.

Anyone else remember Nick Reed about 10 years ago? He was either UDFA or very late pick.

He was brilliant in the final preseason game in some situational pass rushing opportunities.

.NET (myself included) couldn’t get enough of him and threatened revolt if he didn’t make the squad.

He did.

Career stats- 19 tackles as he went through 4 teams in rapid succession. For every Michael Bennett, there is 20 Nick Reeds.
Yes, from Oregon. Put up beastly stats in college but was barely 6ft and 240 lbs as a DE. He scored a fumble return TD in a blowout game vs Jacksonville the year we had TJ Houshmanzadeh

True, but getting a Bennett or a John Randall is worth looking at 20 Reeds.

Yep, posted that earlier. In fact, Sheriff was the first waiver claim in the entire league since the Panthers had the worst record.

I'll also go with MikeMac's opinion, and hope it means we have slightly better talent already in house. I wish Sheriff a starring role in Carolina.

Sheriff is a great story, I hope he is able to break into the league in Carolina. I'd rather see that than some of the entitled jerks drafted in high rounds. If I understand the waiver process correctly, he has to go onto the active roster, Carolina can't just toss him to their own practice squad.

Ah drat. There goes any future "There's A New Sheriff in Town" thread titles.
Well, the Mariners could always sign a pitcher named "Stincker" to make up for this.

I believe that’s in season if a player is poached off another teams practice squad. Sheriff was released and free to sign anywhere.

Too bad Sheriff wasn’t claimed by the Cowboys. That would’ve been too good of a gimmick.
