Seahawks need to retain Walker after this year!!!

I was on the fence with signing KW3, but if they can retain without overpaying for a RB, I'm all in. I still think he's not being used to his full potential (just need that OL shored up), which is scary.

As a nick-picky point, I'd like to see him house a few more runs for scores. Although, that's just the homer in me wanting the run game to establish dominance, lol.

ETA, He'll probably get 1000yds on the ground this season behind a subpar OL. That's doing work.

There is alot of guys coming due. The Hawks have a history of amazing running backs. We would have to get a real hometown discount to justify an extention considering all the factors. Sure he is lookin good for the moment. I just think a 245lb 4.35 monster could be out there....

I thought Walker was going to be a little better than he's been from seeing him play in college and some of the stuff he did here early on. I'm not talking bust or anything. Hardly. It really boils down to a money thing. He's not a top tier back, like a Bijan, Gibbs, Taylor, or Henry. I trust JS/MM to do the right thing.

I was thinking yesterday that you've always got to take shots at running backs in the draft. Generally we do. We can't afford to be bereft at the position looking ahead.

Walker's likely going to be signed by some team in 2026 for somewhere close to $6M/year... maybe slightly higher given that he'll still be 26 y/o at the start of next season.

The question is... can we afford to pay him that much?... given the young, recently drafted talent that we need to retain/extend going into the 2027 season.

I think people are misjudging our offensive lines ability to run block. I actually think he’s done a great job, considering the lack of holes being opened up for him.

I agree with this statement. He's made the offense look better than it is. If the price is reasonable range, keep him.

The jury is out on Charbonnet still - there are glimpses that he can be a top quality pro still, but he remains inconsistent. He is healthy though, and perhaps if given a run as lead back could be impressive.

Walker has shown flashes, but I think we've seen the best of him. Someone will pay more than he is worth imo. I would be in favour of drafting an RB high every 2-3 years and cycling through without overpaying on 2nd contracts - at least unless we find a tier 1 RB.

That's a pretty brutal list to keep all. Guessing next year we may lose Walker, Mafe, Woolen, Jobe. Especially if they try and get Cross done long term next off season. Guessing Kupp gets cut which may help with Shaheed.

Walker … struggles to pick up blocks has for a while now. He’ll completely whiff on the block or ignore it entirely. I even remember (as much as I’m not a fan of his) Geno getting into it with him when he missed a block. Charbs may not be flashy but dudes a good blocking RB as well.

Schematically.. I think at the start of the season what these two are capable of but somehow somewhere we’ve gone away from it. Kubiak is forcing a square peg in a round hole with Walker. And the same can be said for Charbs.

We didn’t learn with Alexander? The only rb we have had in the last 2.5 decades that was a must re-sign was lynch. Invest long term in the o line and invest short term draft capital in running backs (unless you find the next Lynch). Talented running backs aren’t as hard to find as many make it out to be. Talented rb who are also true football players are.

Not sure how many will recognize that this is a solid opinion/take.

I absolutely hate losing any players that are solid, but I understand that money is limited.
The great teams play the salary cap game well.

I expect the Hawks will use the franchise tag after this season. Between Coby Bryant, KWIII, Mafe, Shaheed, Woolen, and Jobe, it's a lot of young FAs. Josh Jones is also an UFA (thought not a Franchise-level guy), and there's a ton of RFAs that the coaches love. It'll be a busy offseason.

I think if KWIII was going to make an impact, he would've already done so. He's been injured every season . I think Charbonet is a better fit.

Relative to the cap, running backs don't make anywhere near what they did in Alexander's time. And unless he explodes down the stretch, Walker isn't getting money comparable to the elite backs even of today.

In general, I believe that, but I don't think it's so cut-and-dry anymore. The way RB costs have dropped, you can get some of these guys on really good deals that don't tie you to them if they decline fast.
