He's an idiot and will definitely regret this. Kearse didn't have the ball stolen from him, he willingly threw it into the crowd. This guy should profit all he can from what was given to him. There's no morally right thing to do.

Glad he returned the ball but he's till a jobless father w/ 2 kids. Why would you turn down $20k?
because it is the right thing to do.

Wrong. The dude hasn't provided for his family at all if you look into the story. The "right" thing to do would have been to take the money and give it to his kids while he's serving jail time, instead of collecting Seahawks memorabilia and betting game tickets. There's more important things than sports

Wow man, I almost got a tear in my eye after reading this.....ALMOST.
I think what put it over the top for me, was the violin music that I added to the reading it for the second time.

No your totally right man. Screw family, IM GOING TO THE SUPERBOWL!!!!

^^^^^ THIS! 20K is chump chage to Jermaine or the Organization. Dude needs cash, NOT swag. They should give him the helmet and the 20K. If not they are cheap bastards.

Cool story and all that but tell me how does a "jobless father of 2" afford NFCCG tickets?

You know, I thought the exact same thing. I own my own business and can't afford tickets to that.

Then again, he IS going to jail the day after the Superbowl. Just sayin....

All good though, he's doing the right thing giving it back to Kearse.

And yes, I'm a cynical bastard.

He's not giving it back Kearse for free. Latest story: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/scott-s...me-winning-seattle-seahawks-ball-talks-plans/

"He said initially he wanted to keep it for his young son - and hopefully someday get it signed by Wilson and Kearse.

On Monday however, Kearse called Shelton and asked for the ball back. He said he'd give Shelton a game-worn jersey and a helmet signed by the team. Shelton said, however, he's not sure about giving it up.

KOMO-TV reports Shelton asked Kearse instead for Super Bowl tickets, and Kearse replied he'd look into it."

I'm pretty sure if he's a single father of two, his ex-wife would probably get half the money. Not to mention taxes, etc.

However, if he wants to go to the Super Bowl, tickets start at $3,000. He could buy tickets for himself, his ex-wife (if he likes) and both his kids, fly out and stay in a nice hotel, and still have enough left over to pay off some debt.

I have a ball too. Nobody wanted it back. It's Hawthornes pick six of VInce Young in the Eagles game. I even tried to contact him on Twitter to get it autographed and had no luck. Oh well, guess I'll just keep it! Just wish it said Seahawks on it, it has an Eagles brand.

I wonder the same :?

But then I realize perhaps a friend or family member hooked him up. Life sounds rough for the guy and going to this game might have been a break from the stress. Also, he never thought the most improbable game-winning touchdown would land in his lap.
Mac daddy or drug dealer?

It's never to late to turn things around.....maybe it was a sign to. I don't give up on anyone anymore.

(And the GB kind of articulates that)

One would think extra good Karma couldn't hurt a guy spending a few months in jail

Aaaaaaaand Kearse was fined $5,512 for throwing the ball into the stands, so I hope that deadbeat appreciates it.

God I am getting so sick of the NFL and its arbitrarily stupid-ass fines.

What a loser, take the 20k you idiot. Selfish not to secure some money for his kids since he is going to jail soon.
