Meh. Respect earned is respect deserved.

If Wilson don’t want his number taken, then don’t play like one of the worst QBs in the World.

As for #3, time to Usher in the new generation, forget the past, let it Burn(s).

I wasn't under the impression that #3 is off limits or should be. Teams should also retire numbers sparingly because...you know...there's a limited number of 2 digit numbers.
I think Russell will definitely get in the ring of honor after he retires, but his career has been tarnished and there is no reason to treat him with such reverence as to forbid anyone from wearing #3

Is it routine to retire the number of an active player in any sport?

Even the Patriots haven't retired 12 yet.

Is Wilson Seattle's best QB ever? That's debatable. If AB survives, stays healthy and makes the squad, he will likely have another number before the season starts. There's nothing to see here.

Obviously the best and winningest quarterback in Seahawks history. Guided us to only Super Bowl victory. Clearly headed to Ring of Honor! Definitely deserves to have #3 retired. Carroll needs to check the ego and respect the accomplishments!
Best take a real deep breath cuz there's not much oxygen to breathe in the depths of your bowels.

Retire the number of a player who advocated essentially decapitating the FO and coaching staff so that he could have the power he tried to wield in Denver? That guy?

You can't mutiny and then expect to be held in the good graces of your former employer. No matter what you accomplished.

But is this story true anyway? Wasn't there a fake jersey leak last offseason as well?

I seriously question your fandom if you think RW guided us to a SB. With that team all we needed was some one to be evasive, hand off and be smart with the ball. He is limited by his height and couldn’t carry this team. The truth is he aspires to be Brees but he really isn’t nearly as good.

Big nothingburger to me.

Of course it is. And this is Burns's number now, during a part of the year when pretty much all the possible uniform numbers are in use. After Cutdown Day, if Burns makes the team, he might end up with a different number.

With a 90-man offseason roster and 100 possible numbers (there were just 99 until recently, but uniform number 0 is now allowed), minus retired numbers (and the Seahawks have five), almost every number ends up used in training camp and the preseason. Even with Devin Bush using uniform number 0, the Seahawks currently have just nine uniform numbers not in use, and five of those are retired. So there are only four not currently in use.
