Soul - we didnt have an effective run game but for the first half of the first season he was here. we never had a good defense but for the 2nd half of the last season he was here. we never had a good OC. And we never had good o line play.

We won 10 games. If the running game sucked, the defense was bottom half of the league for all but the last 7 games, our o line was horrid, and our OC ended up fired, who would you say was responsible for our 10 wins last year? Grubbs superior play calling? Walker tearing up the ground game? The defense shutting down opponents? Basic process or elimination leads one to the QB.
I'm a fan of Sam and I think he's a better fit for us now....but I agree with much of what you're saying about Geno. I've been saying since training camp that Sam+Klint is better than Geno+Grubb. We never saw Geno+Kubiak so we'll never know how that would have gone. We should bear in mind that Schneider had no intention of moving on from Geno until he started asking for top shelf QB dollars.

Geno hasn't won anything in 12 years on multiple teams under multiple different O coordinaters.
You have a massive bias when it comes to Geno. He gets every excuse while Darnold gets none.
You have demonstrated this over and over. I get that you truly believe Geno is elite or close to it and he has had bad break after bad break.
You'll have to excuse those of us who believe Geno is a huge part of all those sacks and turnovers. Not his surroundings.
This is the best way to put it. It's fine Keasely you view Geno as near elite who has had bad luck his whole career. We see it the other way. We can all disagree as sports fans and that's half of what makes being a sports fan fun.

This. I would love to see who said this (IF this was true) so I can ask what in the hell were they thinking.

But I think SeaWolv may be embellishing things just a tad.
SoulfishHawk: "Dude was as solid as he's ever been. Played SOOOOO smart."
HawRiderFan: "He didn't have a "what was he thinking" moment on any throws."
glenwo2: "Actually, I beg to differ. He WAS great."
jammerhawk: "Not elite?"

There are still many people in the media who aren't convinced about Darnold yet, like Steven A. I'm not saying he's trash. He's a good QB. I'm just pointing out he can play better and likely will need to for the Hawks to go all the way. Missing a wide open Barner or Charbonnet at the goal line could be the difference between a championship or runner up. The competition level will require it from here on out. I really hope he steps up and seizes this opportunity to silence his critics once and for all and winning a SB would do just that.

Go Hawks!

Except we've already played, and beaten, potentially ALL of the playoff teams we could face in the next several weeks with his current level of production and errors.

I wish he wouldn't turn it over, and hopefully it improves. It's true, turnovers could cost the game. But he doesn't need to improve in order for the current iteration of this team to win it all, either.

I understand that the Hawks have played and beaten many of the teams in the playoffs already but the playoffs are very different than regular season matchups that don't end your season instantaneously. The margin for error shrinks and missing one open receiver at the goal line can be the difference between winning it all or not. Everyone needs to step up their game, including Sam, and I think they will.

Yep, Rams will have a tough time beating the Hawks. Tough matchup for them, very tough.

Just win the whole f'ing thing. That'll shut em up, Sam.
He played VERY smart football on Saturday, and a select few are still whining about him. Dude can't win.
Guys, we're not saying Sam sucks or that we hate him. We care so much about our team that we desperately want to see them succeed.

Sam would likely be the first to admit he needs to play better. I'm sure there are several on the team that would do the same. To ignore the warts or get complacent in the success is one of the most dangerous things you can do.

As the saying goes: "Nothing fails like success.".

They watch film and critique themselves every day so I'm sure they are well aware of what they need to do. I feel confident they will.

Go Hawks!

Wait a minute here!

Where in this (bolded) did you read that he was annointed as on par with Burrow and Josh Allen like you alleged?

I still don't see anyone here making that claim.

That looked more like Seahawks fans happy that Sam is playing well and nothing else.

I think you're just imagining things. 🤨

I've never once said anything even CLOSE to him being on par with Burrow, Allen or Mahomes.
Holy hell. IF someone thought that........ thanks for the laugh.

I said he played SO SMART in that game. Geezus.

I'm getting the case of the giggles myself. 🤭

If there was anyone that would be crazy enough to even claim that, it would've been me but I'm realistic when it comes to Sam.

I know his limitations and what he needs to do to try and (at the very least) minimize them.

He is a very good QB.

Not Elite but this team - as has been stated a billion times - doesn't need an Elite QB.

GO HAWKS!!!

Geezus man. This is 18 pages in. Let's get fired up for the playoffs. More time is spent arguing over how good Sam is than talking about the actual f'ing team. Or the Playoffs. Or the #1 seed.

That kind of mirrors the national conversation, doesn't it? All the mediots want to talk about is whether Darnold can be trusted.

Yup. If he wins the Divisional.
Yeah, but can he go to the Super Bowl? Then......but but but.............can he win a super bowl.
If he wins the Super Bowl..........it was the Defense and Running game!!!

We have Sam. We do not have Geno. I think the best we can do is try to help Sam improve, and improve what he has around and in front of him.
What exactly is he missing? #1 receiver, #1 defense, #1 kicker, top ten pass protection, top ten running game (finally), most non-offense touchdowns, outstanding coaching...

I mean, if this team crashes in the postseason and turnovers of Sam's are part of it, God help him in the court of public opinion this offseason. It's hard to argue that any QB this year has had MORE team support.

I'd much rather he win.

A reliable #2 receiver?

I thought Shaheed would be it but he has yet to establish any sort of real impact on the passing game (hope that changes in the Divisional round and onward).

Losing Horton was more devastating than we thought.

Getting back Arroyo though would help a little.

Sam is still young, humble, and has potential to improve. His character gives me confidence that he has great work ethic and wants to genuinely get better. When he makes mistakes he takes ownership of it and says he will do better. If Geno was the QB here this season, I'm certain they wouldn't be 14-3 and #1 seed in the NFC.
