Would you trade Spoon, JSN, and DK straight up for Stroud? I would. Pre-draft, I would have. I was advocating for that on this board. CHI would have taken #5, #20, and DK for the #1. JS had the opportunity and didn't take it.
I don't think your question is especially relevant to this. Yes, I make that trade now, but we'd be making the trade then. It seems important to note that Stroud has FAR exceeded even the most optimistic projections of how good he could be, and he got there much quicker than anyone could have expected. With the information we have now, the Bears probably just keep the pick and take Stroud themselves (Caleb Williams never becomes an option in this scenario because the team trading to #1 isn't taking Bryce Young). If they do trade anyway, they'd have better offers on the table than the one you claim they would have taken from Seattle.

Oh, the guy who was darn near the top of the league in passing attempts, yet couldn't even crack 4k yards? Or how about the guy that was one of the league leaders in interceptions? You all need to be real with yourselves, right now Howell is NOT an upgrade.
How was Geno with the Jets or the Giants? QBs play different with different teams different weapons.

Won’t draft a high round QB? Check
Won‘t trade for a high level QB? Check
Won’t sign a high level free agent QB? Check

I guess that leaves the failed PC method of signing other teams failures and thinking you are smarter than everyone else. The same approach they have used for the O-line for a dozen years Minus One.

Doesn't make it right though. Pouting on the sidelines isn't what I want to see from the "Leader" of the team. Him and DK both need to lead by example. And the example isn't tantrums on the sidelines.
And it's not just a Geno thing, it's a QB thing. Bad look.
Have you watched Tom Brady? You could fill an afternoon watching videos of his sideline tantrums.

Not saying you don't have a point, and not to completely defend JS, but how many high-level QB's hit free agency or on the trade market? The refusal to draft QB's each year, when he claims that he wants to, is definitely perplexing to put it nicely.

Nah, he overthrew guys and into double coverage often. I realize he floats in midair, but he sucked vs. the Niners.
His CPOE was still positive against the Niners, so I doubt he overthrew guys as often as you remember. He also would have had nearly 400 yards and 2TDs if Walker set his feet, so while Geno struggled against the Niners, he wasn't nearly as bad as the eye-test crowd believes.

He doesn't "float in midair." I am stating a fact. Most of the passes were accurate.

12% bad pass percentage per PFR for the game. Purdy at 11%.

This is an aside, but it is funny how you claim that I'm pretentious when you can't seem to resist the urge to sprinkle a condescending quip into most replies.

You should watch videos of him winning super bowls and playoff games on the way to the Hall of Fame. Geno Smith isn't 1/5 the QB that Brady was.
This is such a pointlessly obtuse reply.

This is a naked strawman. No one said he was similar to Brady in terms of overall caliber. It was simply pointing out that plenty of excellent leaders have shown emotion on the sideline.

Tom Brady is a good example.

Peyton Manning would straight up get in screaming matches, did he not lead?

Lot of great quarterbacks and leaders had the occasional outburst when faced with shit.

If I remember correctly, Peyton Manning said he didn't want to play for any NFC team.
Peyton flew to Arizona to meet with the Cards, and apparently stayed at Ken Whisenhunt's house during. He also met with the Niners and even took a physical for them. Reportedly, he also stopped by Mike Shanahan's house when he was in Denver to talk about possibly signing with the Redskins. Shanahan claims there was mutual interest, but Peyton backed out when the Redskins traded up to the #2 pick in that draft for RG3.

Here's an interesting quote from an Athletic article with Peyton talking about his only interaction with the Seahawks during that free agent frenzy:

Peyton: (Seahawks coach) Pete Carroll flew to Denver on the Seahawks’ plane and was at the Denver airport (before I left for Arizona) and he sent me a text. He said, “Hey, I’m out here, would love to come out here and visit.” He was very nice and respectful, and I really tried to be nice and respectful in the same way. I called Pete and said, “Pete, I just don’t feel comfortable doing that. I’m going to honor my commitment to go out to Arizona.”

Stokley was killing me about that. “This guy flew all the way here and you won’t even get on a plane to see him?” I said, “Look, this is all new to me.” It kind of takes you back to college recruiting a little bit, but I never had anybody just show up on a plane unannounced and say, “Will you come and get on the plane?”

That's Brandon Stokley he's referring to. He accompanied Peyton on a number of his visits.

Guess I didn't remember correctly. Oh well, his loss! It all ended up working out.

Definitely. I can remember at least one game where Peyton had to feel like he was leaving on the wrong plane.

Wouldn't surprise me if the NFC thing played a role in why he eventually ended up in Denver, but he was apparently at least considering a few.

Folks want Howell after Geno threw a few INTs.
Folks panic because Geno's INT matches his TD.
Switching to the Howell will save our 2024 season and give 12s hope.

Did someone check Howell's TD/INT ratio in his two years in DC? Which part of Howell's past performance and statistics points to stardom?

I don't think your question is especially relevant to this.
I was replying to the question "When have the Seahawks ever been in a position to draft a QB?" I think my answer was relevant as relevant could possibly be. We were in a perfect position. It was not a "nobody could have seen this" because many saw it pre-draft and were discussing the idea.
