First, i have been on his side from the beginning. Its not me who draws lines and picks sides and cant get beyond a binary, 'Pete v John', 'Geno v Russ', 'Geno v Lock', etc oversimplified, nonsensical debate. John hasnt shown the ability to draft solid, realistic QBs to groom behind an entrenched starter. That's simple fact. He has also made some headscratching decisions in the past. So, you can support the guy and think he is great AND be critical and skeptical at the same time. To not have the mental capacity to do so is just unevolved, base tribalism.

As for the Milroe pick, given the way the rest of the draft shook out, I'm better with it now. Whether it was a stroke of genius or a whif and a miss remains to be seen, but I am 100% pulling for him and I am glad John is our GM.

Which GM has? And which GM has done it without spending a 1st or 2nd round pick? And which GM has done it without actually just striking it lucky with a guy who was actually capable of starting in their rookie year and therefore didn't need "grooming" behind an entrenched starter.

Drafting QBs is a crapshoot and always has been. If you aren't drafting in the top 10 then there's a very high probability that any pick you use on a QB after that is going to be a wasted one


I would say that if by chance Milroe actually turns out to be a pro bowl starting QB, then Schneider would surely have to take the crown as best QB drafting GM in the league (I'm not saying he is - but what GMs have drafted multiple QBs the 3rd round or later with pro bowl appearances for the team thst drafted them?)

This reminds me of when a bunch of posters here were crying foul that there were reports of several inquiries for Howell had been received by JS. I read some guy with a podcast, or some sort of media outlet, who screamed to the high heavens he personally had evidence of four teams with interest in Howell. Then he posted a graphic.

How often does John call plays, direct drills, and until last season hire coaches and instill game plans as well as a attitude for the team to live by? Hiring new coordinators constantly and coaches under them has been part of the problem.

It's ok to admit that the offensive line just might not be John's strong suit.

It's ok to admit that the offensive line just might not be John's strong suit.

It's also ok to look at the players and realize they are ALL on rookie contracts and some take time to develop. It's not they didn't come in day 1 and be an all-pro so they suck as you suggest. Even some of the best O linemen had to develop for a couple years. They all need time and continuity. The effort to find the players is there. You may 100% be correct but writing them off so quickly is disingenuous. Players get better. If you can acknowledge players get worse over time, and I think you can, then they can also get better.
