At first glance, not hating the $$ amount. Seems reasonable.

Just signed

Can’t officially sign yet. Only agreed to a deal. Can’t sign until Wednesday and let’s not forget until it’s signed players are still technically free to hear other offers. It doesn’t happen often but has happened where a player changes his mind between agreement and signing.

To people already whining about this: What about this deal makes you believe he is the future? $33 million a year is less than we offered Geno. This screams stopgap. My hope, which was the same when Geno was here, is they draft a young QB and let him sit and learn. I don't want a good rookie thrown to the wolves. I like this deal.

None of this matters if they don't upgrade the OL. Geno actually was able to run an offense by bailing out the worst OL in the NFL with his pocket awareness, Darnold won't be able to do that. That's also a good chunk of guaranteed money for a guy who has only one good season.

He was the most realistic guy though and is young. Knows the system, played well last year (obviously with a really good setup), and does have the talent to be above average.

Good deal made and we’ll see what they do in the draft. So far they have made the first of hopefully many good decisions.
