I'm fine with this stance, despite me having posted a crow pic earlier.

Truth be told, Darnold needed an unlikely combination of events - a missed Rams field goal, a bizarre replay that got us 2 points after a blown whistle, and, though nobody has really talked about this yet, some hilariously bad execution by the Rams right from the first possession - to be in a position to win. That much unlikeliness isn't sustainable. He's a big damn hero and a legend after today, but whether he's a Super Bowl QB is still up for grabs. Though with the NFC in its current state, it might not be until the Super Bowl that he finally gets beaten.

So you're leaving no room for him to win it then.

huh.

Love to say I'm surprised by that but....

While I was very down on him after pick 2, I think it would physically hurt someone to just give the dude some credit. He was NAILS when it mattered. Watch the final drive again. Those throws were PHENOMENAL.

Darnold is legit. We just have to learn that he is a gun slinger. We have to let him sling it. Good with the bad. Kubiak held him back until the 4th qrt. Hopefully they can get this thing together and not wait to start going for it. I do know this. If this was last years QB we would have seen alot of pouting and bad attitude on the sideline. There's a reason Sam is 30-9 when starting over the last 3 or 4 years.
Brett Favre was celebrated for it. He definitely needs to chill on forcing passes, but he was NAILS when it mattered.

You all know me as pretty even-keeled.

Never get too high nor too low. But man, Darnold doesn’t seem to be him.
Just don’t trust the guy and he has not played all that well since the last LA game.

It was an unforgettable game. An epic win that I’ll remember forever.
But before that Shaheed TD, I was pissed the offense looked like it was stuck in quicksand.

Sam is easy to like. Seems like a great dude to have a beer and a cigar with. But that conversion pass off the helmet was so meh. He almost did it again in OT.

I know that sounds like im saying “Yea But” but thats what I see and I today I am eating crow and enjoying it like a lot of you.

All I know is right now, I wouldn’t confidently bet anything on Sam and I hope that changes going into and during the playoffs.

Let me end this by saying I know our LT was out and that absolutely mattered. I give the team and Sam credit for winning despite missing the most important piece of our OL.
I agree with lots of this.

I've said it several times that the slow starts and Sam's Interceptions (largely based on his inability to deal with pressure/and/or KK playcalling) are going to cost us in the playoffs.

Does anyone really think that we should have won many in the last handful of games, outside of the Falcons of course?

Slow and stupid starts are digging holes for us, and in this game, 4 plays going our way saved the game - and one was a GIFT from the Refs that is usually quickly swept under the carpet. It's like 4 interception recoveries in a game. Can't depend on that.

Not trying to be a Debbie downer.... but jesus - you can only dig your way out of holes you dig for yourself for SO long.

I'm happy to have our current record, don't get me wrong. But I'll say it again: "Everyone figured out after the first Rams game that all you have to do is get some pressure on Sam, and neither he, or KK's playcalling will survive that." In the first half of games. The second half, we're a mythical beast that can crush any team.

Go figure.

Yep, every single one. Football games are 60 mins, and all of them count. Every single week teams come from behind and win games that looked like they might lose in the first half/three quarters. Not sure why you don't credit the Hawks in these situations, especially when they do it time after time this season.

Slow and stupid starts are digging holes for us, and in this game, 4 plays going our way saved the game - and one was a GIFT from the Refs that is usually quickly swept under the carpet. It's like 4 interception recoveries in a game. Can't depend on that.

Every game has 4-5 plays that go the winning team's way (outside of blowouts which are rare by NFL standards), but apparently when the Hawks do it, they are just lucky? Go back through every other contender's schedule and show me games that they DIDN'T have things break for them in the right way to win the game.

And what play was a GIFT from the refs? If that is the route you are going, there are some other threads you need to check out on this board.

I don't care if something thinks I'm a homer. There hasn't been a game this year that I didn't expect to win. Didn't feel that way even last year.

And a punt return for TD

And a great effort play to stop a TD on the return on one of his pick

So yeah I hope overcoming adversity on TNF changes things but will wait to "eat crow" until it does

That Kupp throw and catch was incredible. High degree of difficulty.

Darnolds a good qb warts and all. Just like K9 gotta take the good with the bad. 🤷
Yep, playing conservative "not to lose" ball is NOT the way to go with Sam, as we saw throughout most of that game. Gotta let him sling it and we're just gonna have to live with some heartburn along the way.

Yup, even on that first pick, they were throwing slants at the sticks. Rams DBs like to sit on routes.

Double move over the top on play action is how you do it against this team.

I can't help but wonder on that redzone pick that if they rolled out Darnold instead of having him just throw the ball right then and there, that he would've found better success.

God didn't zap you with 12 bolts of white hot lightning for that blasphemous final sentence?? 🤔🥴

Hey, he just beat the best the NFC has to offer. If anyone's gonna take him down at this point, it'll probably be the AFC champion.
