If they take away the spin move, he'll find something else to beat the defender. It's not like he only has one move or can only beat u with his feet. Contrary to what most detractors would have you believe, Wilson is great inside the pocket.

***PLEASE NOTE THAT I AM NOT COMPARING RUSSELL WILSON TO TEBOW***

Tim Tebow used to use the same move all the time. He got noticeably worse once defenders figured it out. I can remember a couple times where he actually spun right into a sack, and another where he heard footsteps that weren't there and spun for no reason. Wilson is obviously superior to Tebow in nearly every way but he's probably going to need to make some adjustments as far as escaping pressure goes.

Russell Wilson is everything everyone wanted Tebow to be.

^^^^^^^^^^^ that's perfect.

Ah, but first he needs to have a pocket to be great inside of. Too many cases of interior guys making any semblance of a pocket disappear quickly in Carolina.

RW's evasiveness in and out of the pocket works because he's quicker and faster than just about everyone chasing after him -- not because they haven't "figure it out" yet. This would be like some DB back in the day claiming they "figured out" how Largent gets open all the time and can now stop him.

Knowing it's coming doesn't make the defender quick or fast enough to catch him.

Carolina also has one of the best lines.

I would think. He should bait them with an earlier spin to give them that feeling then double spin back (and maybe another quick one to really break the defenses ankles) like frantic Fran.

I think he'd be better off spending that time working on getting through his progressions faster and getting the ball out on time. ;)

Srsly tho: loooooooooove Wilson's feel for and manipulation of the pocket, and the whirling dervish routine he uses as plays breakdown -- while dangerous and not always advised; he turns too many short yardage sacks into huge long yardage sacks -- is INCREDIBLY fun to watch.

Whitner is full of it, and I don't think anyone has an answer for Wilson's elusiveness around the pocket, or will have an answer. The only way we'll see less of it is if/when Wilson develops as a QB out of it, but nobody is going to consistently stop him from it defensively.
