So far this season, Russell Wilson:
-Is on pace to be sacked a David-Carr-like 54 times for the season (He was sacked just 33 times last year).
-Has an offensive coordinator who is apparently foreign to the concept of scheming for lack of protection.
-Plays in a run first offense that has had mostly abysmal results out of I-formation for most of the season.
-Has played one of the very toughest defensive schedules in the NFL through the first 8 games.
-Is playing without Percy Harvin.
-Has endured three early start games against only 3 total home games (Wilson's numbers are much better at home).
-Has faced defenses that are more prepared for read option.
-Has faced defenses that have schemed to nearly eliminate Seattle's play action deep ball, which was a huge part of Wilson's success in 2012.
And yet:
His team is 7-1, and he's sitting at a 99 passer rating for the year. His current stats, prorated over the rest of the season are nearly identical to his 2012 numbers, when he faced FAR less adversity.
Can you imagine the season Wilson would be having under even average circumstances? He'd likely be an MVP candidate.
