The article claims he broke his legs in a "traffic altercation"--it sounds like he got in a road-rage incident with a 76-year-old lady. That's hilarious, it's like an April Fools hoax.

People are stupid. Russ probably has a driver.

He doesn't have a driver. He is very down to earth and still has a third-rounder contract.

Yeah, you're probably correct but I don't see him pulling a Moffit in any circumstance given he's a Christian that doesn't broadcast it like Tebow. He's very down to earth and focused on his goals as a football player.

I love the smell of the Niners fear.
It's thick and sweet like honey.
It smells like dog piss and it hits the air in a spastic spray.

Whoever wrote this has absolutely nothing better to do. I have no idea why start a rumor like this. But fear is ridiculous. Wilson is definitely good and will be a stalwart for the next decade, but if you think the Niners are afraid of him, you are way ahead of yourself. There are only 2 QBs that I have 'feared' as a fan... Troy Aikman and Brett Favre. Those guys singlehandedly kept us from about 5 more championships during the NFC dominance of the '90s.

I wrote it. The 49ers themselves fear no player they respect good players. I am taking about your fanbase which spends more time talking down the Seahawks on Seahawk boards than taking about your team on your boards.

Funny that you brought up Aikman given Wilson looks like he's going to be this decade's Aikman and will do exactly the same to you. Be prepared for years of frustration NB.

If Wilson can become an Aikman / Favre type, then yes, there will be plenty of frustration. I will say that Aikman won 3 SBs and Favre won a SB and 3x MVP. With Steve Young, those guys were the QBs of the '90s. I think Wilson will be a probowler, but the problem for him is his immense competition in the NFC... RGIII, Manning, Brees, Ryan, Kaepernick, Rodgers, Newton, Stafford. The same argument can be made for Kaep. Both guys look to be excellent QBs, but only 3 guys make the ProBowl (unless one of those guys go to the SB / Injuries). Now, both Kaep and Wilson do have good teams around them, which will allow them to win more games than most of the other guys, so probowl voting will be more likely.

And your comment that our fanbase would rather talk down to Seahawk fans than talk Niners on Niner boards is completely false and egocentric. I made an account here to have a little banter here and there. There's a very similar situation on 49erswebzone, there's a thread called: 49ers and Seahawks discussion and several Seahawk fans are consistent contributors over there. I don't believe I've ever 'talked down' the seahawks, I understand that they represent the biggest challenge to winning the division again. But make no mistake, the Rams could be better than either the Seahawks or the Niners, depending on injuries / fluke plays / Coach Fisher's influence on the Rams.

Well said. And it wouldn't surprise me if Wilson ended up winning a championship at some point, but remember the lack of a cap in the '90s meant that there really was only 3 legit teams in the NFC from 90-'99

NFC Championship Appearances between '90-'99
San Francisco (6)
Dallas (4)
Green Bay (3)
Chicago (1)
Washington (1)
Detroit (1)
Carolina (1)
Atlanta (1)
Minnesota (1)

And during that stretch we only won 2 Superbowls. So during an era where the top talent was consolidated to a few teams, and the Super Bowl winner was the NFC (minus the '99 SB), it still was hard to pull off.

I realize Wilson is the second coming of Christ for you guys, but with the more even distribution of talent and the strength of the AFC, the possibility of winning multiple championships in a decade is very tough...

For reference, the '00s NFC Championship appearances...
Philadelphia (5)
St. Louis (2)
Tampa Bay (2)
New York (2)
Minnesota (1)
Atlanta (1)
Seattle (1)
Carolina (1)
Chicago (1)
New Orleans (1)
Green Bay (1)
Arizona (1)

Pretty hard to have multiple trips, and Philly didn't even win one. That being said, the AFC was much better during the '00s. And now the NFC is stronger.

How did Philly lose a SB without winning an NFC championship game? Were they the alternate and the other NFC team got sick?

I was referring to winning the SB, sorry that was misleading. Philly never won a SB but made 5 NFC Championship games.

Russel Wilson tied the rookie TD record with Payton Manning and made the pro bowl as a rookie. Anyone who is arguing Kaep is even remotely even on the same level is on the pipe HARDER THAN MY HO. We clear? Yes, I think we is. Thanx!

Bitches, I'm out.

Why wasnt this thread removed or at least locked. This is the same hoax that happens every year. Leaving it up only makes people worry about nothing.
