Okung’s weight loss isn’t a new story but how he did it has now been revealed it was a 40 day water fast

I have done numerous water fasts in the past my max being 10 days it’s not that hard if you are already keto adapted the 1st 48 hrs is the hardest after that you don’t even get hungry which is a hormone response from Ghrelin. After 24 hrs your GH levels and ketone levels rise to help offset your lowered glucose levels and your body going into a higher level of autophagy where the healthy cells will start consuming defective cells which are potential cancer cells ( there was an article where if you do two 7 day fasts a year it will reduce your chances of cancer by 70%). After an extended fast you just have to be careful when you break your fast you have to do it slowly or you will be on the toilet

Water fast means nothing but water? Or water with some nutrients in them?

It's customary to add electrolytes to the water.

I've started adding 1 ml. of Daylyte to my 20 oz. water jug... and try to drink at least three of these a day.

I started this recently while prepping for a colonoscopy. I could have mixed the MIralax in Gatorade but I wanted to avoid all the added sugars or sugar substitute in the Gatorade.

Depends on who you talk to about fasting. When I have done a water fast I will drink a cup of black coffee 1x a day. Most people who do a water fast will supplement minerals( sodium, potassium and magnesium). In most cases about 48 hours in you stop getting hungry it helps to keep yourself busy to keep your mind off of not eating its 90-95% mental

Back in 2019 when i turned 70 y/o, I adopted an intermittent fasting diet to lower my A1c without Metformin or other Type 2 diabetes meds. When I started, my A1c was 8.2.

After three and a half months on that diet, my A1c was down to 5.9. My doctor was shocked. I also lost 30 lb. which was great as well.

On average, I ate only once per day... spacing out my meals 24 hours apart. After 12 hours, our bodies start using our fat reserves for energy.

After a while, I started going two days between meals... and then three days... and ultimately to four and five days on occasion.

After the first day of not eating, I had no hunger pains, nor did I crave food. The surprising thing is I had plenty of energy.

Intermittent fasting works.

Great post. I just hit 50 but, I’m learning about intermittent fasting. I’ll sometimes have just one meal a day and I’m usually not concerned about the contents (although I try to keep it healthy). I will have fruits and nuts throughout the day.

I’m down 15 lbs….back in the gym and am as strong and energetic as ever.

Doctors just want to manage Diabetes they don’t want to cure you. The threshold used to be an A1C of 6.5 now it’s 7.0 I am assuming it’s to make the doctors look better for them to say a x % of patients are now controlled

Dr Jason Fung is a kidney specialist based in Toronto whose patients by the time they get to him are in bad shape usually diabetic Fung is known as the go to guy for fasting he has a few books out

Good for you that you managed Diabetes with no meds. Did you do any other diet changes besides IF?

No, not really. If anything, since I was in ketosis most of the time, my diet leaned towards Keto but not strictly.

I started intermittent fasting a few weeks back. It's not that hard although the first day or two is iffy. I've gone off the wagon several times but I am back on it again. Generally, I eat around 2pm (I'm eating turkey zoodle spaghetti as I type). Portions don't matter as my caloric intake in general on these days is around 1,000 or less. It's surprisingly easy once you adjust your mind and body and schedule to it.

There’s been some that have just eaten a diet that would put on weight Joe Thomas has gone on record that when he was in high school he would eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with a glass of milk to put on weight. I am pretty sure that the OL don’t do steroids. i had a former coworker that had played as an offensive lineman with the Chargers when he first got with them he they told him we think your a little light in the wallet so they put him on a diet of steaks, potatoes and ice cream. When i first met him I thought he was the most unhealthy person I had ever met he was a white guy with a shaved head and could have passed as the wrestler King Kong Bundy
