Russ Insists that to be successful, he needs a personal qb coach that’s told the public Russ only needs to improve by one percent. A chef and nutritionist that feed him 5000 calories a day to lose weight. In 2015, he told Twitter that a certain brand of miracle water Had helped him overcome head injuries.

He is a magical thinker.

Even in hospital it's about his brand and his book.."look at me and what I'm doing"
Yea..early Russ..I really thought he was one of the few sincere caring people who were far and between with QBs with those constant hospital visits with children..but....overtime showed me a different picture indeed...I think it was magnified tremendously when he got married.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a player get more obsessed over than Russ. Wow. It's a trip.
Speaking for myself, I'm not 'obsessed' with Russell. I neither idolize him nor do I harbor anywhere near the dislike for him that many in here have expressed.

But his plight makes for a good real life drama. It's been an amazing fall from grace, having gone from everyone's darling that could do no wrong as a rookie in 2012 to one of the most polarizing players in sports 10 years later.

I think it’s more inquisitive than obsessive. To see a player be so successful for 10 years and then turn around and be statistically opposite is very puzzling. Especially when one can see what appears to be habitually the same player in how he performs.

To a point, but I get it. Maybe a little of both. Just gets old. Then again, it's not going away anytime soon. Just keep losing Denver, 2 more!

Most of the attention will die off after this year because it no longer will affect the Hawks.

I’m just glad we didn’t see Denver get what we had.

Agree about the drama angle. It's easily one of the most intriguing story lines in recent times in the NFL. And if you're an informed Seahawk fan, you've had a front row seat for it from the very beginning. Just think of all plot points involved...you could make quite an extensive list of them...

No doubt. When the Hawks were sitting at 6-3, it felt like a given that this team would not only make the playoffs, but they would have a top 5 pick from Denver. Shoot, still going to end up as an all time fleecing imo. Nice to be on the other side of things this time. Def. makes up a little for a few bad decisions in the past on trades (Percy, Jimmy Graham, and Adams)

I guess so. Meh, just glad he's gone and they are losing.
To each their own. I just wanted to make it clear that I wasn't 'obsessed', that there is a certain entertainment value that has drawn me to this drama that is playing out in Denver.

I'm glad he's gone, too. Not only do I think it was best for the team that he was traded, but his character also started to wear on me, his constantly talking in cliches, his obsession with his image, the whole "Let Russ Cook" crap, and so on. He changed from that lovable teddy bear that took the football world by storm, defied conventional wisdom, and took us to heights we'd never experienced before.

I guess so, seems like a waste of energy and a little childish at times. But that's many Hawks fans these days. We already won.
I just don't get why people care SO much about every last thing he does. It's borderline creepy. And just the same shit over and over and over again.

Yeah, when we hit 6-3, I was totally surprised. Did not see that coming. At all. Definitely got caught up in it. Now I actually wonder to myself if losing the last two games would be better for us in the long run than potentially squeaking into the playoffs or just missing out. The only thing is I don't know how much of a talent gain/loss it would actually be between about the 10th pick and about the 19th pick or so.

Just going to watch and see how it all plays out.

Besides that I’m a Hawks fan, I’ll remain interested for 2 main reasons.

1. Football drama. This is what interests nbcsports, cbssports, espn, si, you name it. It’s one of the major sports stories of 2022 and fairly 2023.

2. Local interest. Besides being a Hawks fan, I grew up in Boulder. Carrie Walton was a Junior high school friend of my sisters. They may not be all Jerruh or irsay publicly, but they are being put in the position of Jed York. This will yield more drama, feeding into No. 1.

Its a great drama.

Borderline creepy?

If it annoys you as much as you say it does, then why do you keep posting in these threads about him? Are you not perpetuating the childishness and SOS that you claim to despise? You're responding to nearly every comment, so one could say that you're as obsessed about the subject as anyone else.

I doubt this will ever ever happen because he's not very self-aware, but low hanging fruit to get back some credibility would be to proactively give up the office in the offseason and say something to the effect of "it was meant to be about putting in the extra QB study work, but it's become too much of a distraction." I know it's a status thing for him, but it's just so silly. I've had multiple offices over the years, currently don't (because the trend is all around real estate consolidation), and I have zero desire for a new one.

The Patriots banned tb12’s entourage whilst he was still winning Super Bowls. The same can be done here. The office meanwhile can be shared with a qb who can be reasonably projected To get the team to say .400 at worst, about the same as Seattle’s 2021 record. Pj Walker, Marcus Mariota, Jacoby Brissett, maybe Davis Mills, the list goes on.

Next, Penner has said he expects Russ to do whatever it is in preseason to come back ready To go. Lose 25 pounds by ota time. Go Run some goddamn hill sprints….the mountains are literally right there. Make it clear he will Be expected to compete in as many preseason reps as the other guy.
