I'd rather have Lynch than Suh, if the money is pulled from the same pot.
Elaborate?
If it's an issue of giving Lynch what he wants or ponying up for Suh, it's a finite pool of money we're drawing from. Not to mention Wilson and Wagner. I can't see us giving Lynch a new 1-year contract
and signing Suh
and extending RW and BW. There's only so much money to go around.
Its just as cut and dry like that.
The cap is at an estimated 24 m.
We dont know how extensions are going to affect the cap.
We dont know if Lynch is going to retire or maybe just wants to finish his career in Oakland.
Either way Seahawks have talent in Turbin and Michael and heading into a draft that is deep in RB talent.
There are plenty of contracts that are going to be in consideration moving forward in terms of cost for production, age, injury or moving on from role players.
Cut, trade, or restructure, and extend to free up more cap in:
Unger, Okung, Mebane, Miller and McDaniel that can manipulate the cap.
And adding Suh to an already great defense will just allow the Seahawks a better margin for error if its trying to transition to cheaper, more reliable players.
Bottom-line is the Seahawks arent as strapped for cash as one might believe to make a move like this.
