It's the feet.

Woolen's stride is clearly longer than the other corner backs. There is more time between steps for receivers to exploit. Foot placement can lag at a key moment of a contested catch or tackle. I see him as a much better fit for the previous Pete Carroll defense.

Sherm had no issues with his long stride and Riq is much faster. What Riq lacks that Sherm has is high football IQ. He knows where to be and when to be there and through sheet intelligence and study was almost always where he was supposed to be before it mattered.

Add intelligence and the span to blanket a wr and you have a player who is hard to beat.

Same player minus the smarts even with speed, you get Woolen.
