It was on a drive with a soft roughing the passer call, this taunt which would have led to a punt and then a very ticky tack DPI call on a ball thrown halfway up the stands. Felt like refs were trying to give them a score to tighten up the scoreboard. Credit to Riq who actually kept his head in the game and made some great PBUs. I think we do have to unfortunately live with the fact his football IQ is pretty low.

That shouldn't even been a penalty to begin with. Refs will flag anything and these stupid ******* taunting flags are absolutely ridiculous.
Especially since Witherspoon did the sane thing earlier in the game in front of the same LJ and they didn't call it.

At some point, just treat him like Browner. Browner was good for at least one 15 each game. But he absolutely made 3-4 critical plays per game.

Riq has dialed back on trying for the pick and instead getting his hand on more passes to knock them away. Easily 3+ critical plays made per game too. And more importantly, staying on his man so the QB has to look for someone else.

Jobe is consistent but not dominant. And Jobe gets penalties when he gets beaten too. Riq rarely gets beaten. His penalties are more be a bit of a D-bag to opposing players. But I'll take it, easily.

Stupid Penalty, Stupid call.

The thing I like more then anyrhing was seeing him run down the sideline when their 3rd string RB broke the long one at the end.

I agree with the OP. Woolen has vastly improved his BS.
Taunting is one of, if not the, dumbest penalty in the NFL.
The whole team can go to the endzone after an interception and taunt the **** out of the opposing team's fans, but stand over a player for two seconds and that's 15 yards.
Doesnt matter how dumb you and other folks think it is. It is currently a penalty, that extends drives for the opponent. These professional players need to understand that they are hurting their team.

I for one am a fan of the new rule. Then again I'm old as hell and I come from a different era where we were taught to act like we've been there, not this ooh ooh look at me everybody, i made a good play, cheer for me BS. Different times, I get it.

dude clearly has the skill to play at a high level. but he is certainly a dumb player. week after week he gets these penalties. these all come with fines so he doesnt learn from a monetary penalty. he certainly didnt learn right after the play because the very next play he stands with his arms crossed like he just did something great. he didnt learn after being benched earlier in the season. he should be playing it razor thin and just doing his job at this point. only benefit to being oblivious to your situation is i guess he wont get hung up on giving up a big time play if it happens.

He can play, when he wants to. But the Taunting, STILL to this day. There's ZERO reason for it. Drives my f'ing insane.

JUST....WALK.....AWAY

Why in the hell is it so hard for players to just make a play and celebrate with teammates?
This guy has a history of this crap. It's ridiculous.

It's a contract year, he's playing for that money. Per Google AI:

Tariq Woolen has not received a contract extension from the Seattle Seahawks yet, as he is entering the final year of his rookie contract in 2025. His future with the team and the potential for a new deal are uncertain, with speculation suggesting he could command a high salary in a future free agent deal or be a trade candidate. The Seahawks' decision will likely depend on his performance in the 2025 season.

Current situation: Woolen is on the final year of his initial four-year, $3.99 million rookie contract and will be an unrestricted free agent in 2026.

Future contract speculation: If he performs well in 2025, he could seek a long-term deal worth more than $20 million per year. However, his inconsistent performance since his rookie year has complicated the situation.

Potential for a trade: There is speculation that the Seahawks could trade him before the 2025 season, which could save the team money and potentially bring back draft picks.
Decision factors: The Seahawks will have to weigh Woolen's statistical performance against his consistency and overall value to the team when deciding whether to extend him, trade him, or let him play out his contract.

He stood over the dude and yelled something. What does that accomplish? NOTHING.

The taunting call was complete BS.
It happened within about 10 feet of the ref and Woolen was bent over saying something in the receiver's face, so he very obviously said something very naughty.

Woolen has really improved his play from what it was last season and for the first few games this year. But he has to clean up these stupid penalties. Yesterday wasn't the first time he was flagged for something completely unnecessary. It didn't hurt us yesterday.

You can argue the vagaries of the taunting rule all you want. That's fine. But coaches and players have to be aware of how the rule is being called/enforced during the season, and make adjustments to that fact or suffer the consequences. What Woolen did after that play they've been calling all year long. You can't get into a player's face and taunt them after a play, or you're likely going to get penalized.

Coaches know this, and the good ones point it out, show examples of it being called to their players so they avoid getting penalized for it. I'm sure MM has done so with his players. Woolen just being Woolen there.

Yep. Even IF it was bs, which it wasn't, imo...........you still have to know as a player. It accomplishes NOTHING for your team.
Make the play, go do a river dance with your teammates if you have to. It's not that hard to figure out. WALK....THE.....HELL.....AWAY.
DK did it way too much, he got blasted for it, and it was justified. Why would Reek get a pass? NO player should get a pass. Like the rules or not, they are in place, and the refs call them plenty. You're not HELPING your team by taunting a guy.

Especially if the ref is standing 10 feet away and looking straight at you and your opponent.

Exactly! The league told the teams at the beginning of the season that they were going to crack down on the taunting, that they had issued a mandate to the refs to make it a point of emphasis.

Woolen drew a similar stupid flag in the Commanders game. The good news is that they both happened in a situation where we already had the game virtually won, so maybe he'll learn his lesson.
