We all know that Schneider peruse posts by dot net experts before making major decisions. That said, what's the consensus on trading Woolen? He of weak effort, poor run defense, lousy tackling, and is vulnerable on big plays.

Riq will expect big contract next year, is trading him now a better option?

Listening to Bumpus on 710, sounds like Shaq Griffin hasn't been around, dealing with some personal stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if Pete has inquired about Reek. When he is focused, Reek can actually be damn good. If coach Mike believes in the guy, give him another year. He knows a hell of a lot more about football and defense than we do.

I don't know why some are down on Woolen, he is having a great camp and working on improving his game.
The 6'-4" Woolen made the transition from WR to CB at UTSA and became a starter his junior season.
He was drafted by the Seahawks in the 5th round and these are his three year stats at corner.

Total tackles 162
Forced fumbles 1
Fumble recoveries 5
Pass deflections 41
Interceptions 11
Defensive TDs 1

Some of you need to chill out.
The guy went from WR to starting CB his junior year at the University of Texas at San Antonio to a 5th rounder starting in the NFL. He's young, he's learning just like every player at camp is trying to improve.
The Richard Sherman parallels are real.

No need to chill out. We all have our opinions. I think he's a little overrated and has way too many concentration issues. He's capable of being VERY good. But until I see him ball out like he did as a rookie? I'm concerned. He's not close to Sherm. Sherm was focused and locked in every single play. He had a massive passion for football.

We can receive a 3rd for Woolen now, old fool Pete might even overpay with a 2nd. another season like his 2024 effort, we wouldn't get much.

I do like that it's a contract year. Not a coincidence that players play lights out, often, in their contract year.
I respect everyone's opinion on the guy. I just need to see consistency. I don't care if he's good most of the time. He just seems to lack focus, often. Fix that and he'll help this team a lot.

Woolen is a top 10 coverage corner that has improved every season. The narrative many Seahawks fans have of Woolen are anecdotally informed. Next to Witherspoon and JSN, he might be the most valuable (in terms of league perception) player on the team.

Watch these, if you have time.

I don't need a video to tell me what my eyes see. No, he not a top 10 corner, at all. He's not close to the most valuable player on this defense.

Riq at 50% is still better than Pritchett at 100%. No!

Glad that our front office is floating the right narratives, setting up for a good trade? Dare we think a 2nd?

Comparing him to Sherm? Come on. It's not even close. Sherm was an all-time great Cornerback who cared on EVERY PLAY. A lot.
And while he was a big mouth, and it could be a little annoying at times, he flat out backed it up. Talk all you want if you back it up. And he absolutely did.

He was literally benched in parts of the past two seasons by two different coaches. I don’t trust him to perform at a high level consistently to warrant giving him a big contract.

That being said, depending on how he’s playing and where the team is at, I’d prefer they hang onto him until the trade deadline for max value.

Why not allow yourself to be challenged and give them a watch? Your opinion would be more informed. Hawkblogger, particularly, brings up some data points that are really interesting.

The problem with Woolen is that because of his size comparisons, he is automatically lumped in with Sherman. Size and draft location being the most common comparisons.

Sherman was arguably the best CB in the game while he was a Seahawk. With news that Griffin has been missing time, trading Woolen now would be foolish. He may never reach Richard Sherman status but he is definitely not Kelly Jennings either.

Fine, trade him and the defensive backfield instantly is worse. Unless y’all know of an all pro buried in the back end of the roster.

I see what this thread's opening post did.

Frame the thread by starting with a false assertions.

Then steer the thread with follow up posts toward a predetermined judgement.
