There's nuances to the problems in every big city.

A lot of cities are busing their problems to the west coast. Massively inequality. Allowing mentally ill people out on the streets without care or medication.

There's always been homelessness in Seattle, it was just less obvious but read things like Mark Lanegans memoir in the 1990s and they were all camped under I5 at the Jungle. A lot of cities do a good job of hiding it from where the tourists are to help with perceptions but still do a bad job addressing it.

In Vancouver, a lot move to the west coast to get away from the cold etc.

Chicago- a lot of the guns in the gun crimes are from ones bought in Indiana and driven over.

Violent crime is a lot higher in the south due to poverty issues.

The essence of the issue is housing and the evolution of the job market, jobs out there pay so much lower than the standard of living, rents and jobs exported out of the country as well as just the price of necessities have made people homeless. The rich don't care as far as what used to be considered a responsibility to the greater wellbeing of their country, I think it was one of the Rockefellers that said we the affluent have an innate responsibility to be the caretakers of society to assure what made us wealthy can continue.

With the world economy they don't feel the need to look out for the country they call home, no matter where that is. The hurt is worldwide.

Yeah I agree. I mean some of those watches are 100-125 K , but most are 15 K. Better yet, get a high end Chinese rep that you wear day to day and keep the real one in your safe for special occasions. It's not worth it. If someone is car jacking my car, take it.

Laast we're not scared of books. People might actually consider voting red for stuff like crime or just something different if they weren't so spooked at stuff like that and women/lgbt folks getting their rights stripped. Went way to far to the right in those sorts of things.
