Okay,

So at what point does it, if it has not yet, been discussed about the possibility of Richard Sherman getting some plays at wide receiver? Seems his experience, and his body type, he could be quite effective. At the very least, on any half ending Hail Marys.

Ummm, don't really see us in the position of doing any end of game Hail Marys.

Similar to puttling Julio Jones in on defense to defend. I could see it for a Hail Mary, but I'd rather have Tate, Rice, Chop Chop going up for it. Doug's a little small for a jump ball.

Not sure I'd really want sherman out there for those snaps unless we really felt like it was going to be some sort of huge boost.

Maybe in a perfect world if our line was healthy and functioning smoothly, spending time on something like that might be worth while but our hands our full just executing our playbook at the moment.

I asked Sherman about this on twitter last season when we had some WR's banged up. Said he lobbied Pete to let him play some O but they didn't want to risk him like that

Well.. he was a WR.

I don't know though, I don't think Sherman has elite speed - which is what Patrick Peterson offers. Sherman is just an incredibly good cover corner.

I would rather have Bruce Irvin at WR. His speed at 6-3 240 lbs., just have him run a few "go routes" every game.

Playing one position is already a full-time job and highly specialized; I don't think we need our all-pro corner focusing on a position he hasn't played in over 5 years. The hail mary scenario is intriguing though. He definitely has the height and the hops for it. Or maybe Pete just throws him in at the end of another 49ers blowout to troll Harbaugh some more.

He has elite speed for a pass rusher but compared to the DB's covering him he isn't fast enough to beat a corner/ safety deep.

With someone who makes as many enemies as Sherman, I wouldn't want him to be playing a position where it is perfectly legal to get hit really hard.

How awesome would it be to see him play a few snaps at WR vs the Bucs and catch a few passes on Revis?

Although if he got the chance, I have a feeling Revis would win that matchup.

He's already in that situation regularly. Look at the hit Fitz laid out on him. Soon as someone's got the ball past the line of scrimmage, DBs can be blocked like a truck.

If Sherman has to play WR like Petersen then we have a serious issue at WR just like the Cardinals do, or much like the Bears did when they had to use Hester. You only do this when the talent of the player far exceeds the talent of your needed position. I say we let the All Pro focus on Defense.

Yes,,,just ask anyone near Brandon Browner how he treats wideouts that don't get the ball. "Mr Jennings,,,,please pick the red phone".

lol
