the Seahawks want to unleash the Harvin against the Niners.

Doesn't matter what the team wants. Percy only plays if Percy feels like playing that day.

Im sick of attitudes like this.

Word on Percy all along was that he will not play if he is feeling anything less than 100%. Hate to say it, but now that he has been paid it probably becomes far less likely he will ever attempt to play through any sort of pain.

Like I said in another one of the 200 Harvin threads, the Hawks are winning without him. So the urgency isn't there just yet for Harvin to play with pain, which is why everyone involved is being so cautious.

If we lose tonight and/or next week in SF? Then look for the sense of urgency with Harvin to ramp up considerably.

I'm a physician and inject steroids all the time for inflammation. Most likely the pain and discomfort Percy is feeling is likely from inflammation- the shot then should help Percy. Realize that while cortisone directly decreases inflammation, it does not heal any possible structural damage (that's what the surgery is for). From what I have heard recently, Percy has gotten follow up MRI's and there has been no recurrent structural damage to the hip. It appears that Percy is feeling pain and may have limited range of motion simply because of an exaggerated inflammatory response to overworking the healing joint during the Vikings game. The cortisone should help that. A cortisone shot like this could start working right away, ie in a day or two, so depending on how well he reacts to it, it's theoretically possible he could play tonight. On the other hand, it usually takes a week or two to really work (or it might not work at all sometimes), so he likely he will need some more time.

I've had (literally) dozens of cortisone shots. I love 'em. My first, the doc said "it's going to hurt a bit for the next 24 hrs, but 3 or 4 days from now, you'll be back in the gym". By the time I got home (45 mins) the pain was totally gone and I was training the following day. Makes me think this may not be as bad as once feared. I could be wrong.

Are you aware of how his deal is structured?

The Hawks have an out after 2 years if they need to. He will have to work to earn more than the first 2 years of the deal.

But haven't you heard? Harvin is going to react poorly to the shot because he is a bad person and secretly hates the Seahawks. He's going to sit on the sideline and make faces at Hawks fans just out of spite. Then, he is going to convince Sherman and Thomas to sign elsewhere when their contracts are done. And then he's going to find your dog and kick it, which will result in an injury to his other hip, just for fun.

Nice. $25 million guaranteed for 2 seasons (really at most it would be 1 season and some change) would certainly make me happy.

Seems like some have an agenda to keep the fans as segregated as possible.

Why stoke the fire?

I don't doubt you but then the question becomes why does Percy still view himself as being "Out"?

Cause he's not going to play without going through a proper practice week............and not practicing for two weeks, then getting a cortisone shot is not a proper practice week. Thus "out."

I said this around week 9 and not a lot of people told me I was wrong.

What I said was that he is more hurt than what they are telling us.

My guess is that he doesn't play again.

Yep. See there is the rub. HE has decided not to play. Percy's call and not the team's. The team still says maybe but Percy is saying no. Actually he is saying no but I'll still take your money.

Look sure the team can win with out him but they brought him here for a reason and at great cost. It is perfectly acceptable to be irritated with him. We knew he was a diva when we hired him though. Most exceptional NFL receivers seem to be.

Does the uncertainty of Harvins status for to tonite make it harder for the Saints to plan?

Could be pete 100% knows Harvins status, whether in or out, I don't have a clue.

I'm sure they plan for him either way.

If there is any question over his game readiness, even if it is only Harvin that is unsure, I think he should be rested. I'd rather he come back in a couple of weeks time, feeling confident in his fitness.
