Football players (especially those in physical positions), and boxers are more likely to be violent/domestic abusers. Hasn't anyone noticed that, compared to say basketball or baseball players?
There's a reason for that. It's psychological, it has more to do with brain damage over time than anyone is willing to admit. Society just isn't ready to have that conversation because it's seen as an "excuse" for abuse. But it's actually just factual
IIRC, DV incidents among NFL players is significantly lower than national averages.
I personally think that’s not the greatest comparison, only because on a national level there are so many variances between communities, wealth, etc.
What we do know is that those who have been abused, or grew up in abusive households, are more likely to be abusers/violent themselves.
Take Aaron Hernandez. People tried to claim his actions were because of CTE. The problem with that logic is his actions were very premeditated.
Damage to your amygdala, and certain other parts of your brain can cause impulse control issues, suicidal thoughts, etc. So when I see a boxer or football player in the news for this, I’m not surprised
