Thoughts after 6 games

This time last year, we weren't good, I was expecting more. But we were 4-2 after 6 games and defeated the Lions.

After 6 games, #8 in offense, #7 in defense

This year with a new defense guru and a new OC, I felt like our defense has improved some but baby steps. our offense has taken a step backward. The Lions' game could be a measuring stick, our defense couldn't stop them in '23, and we still couldn't stop them in '24. Our offense could outgun the Lions in '23 but not in '24. Geno of '23 was better than Geno of '24, he has the look of a QB with issues.

We are 3-3, the season sure isn't over for us, although it will have the team keep playing the way it keeps playing like the last 3 games.

I think a players only meeting would be a good idea?

I hope that you are right but I expected a little bit more.

I think we're just bad enough to barely miss the playoffs and just good enough to win seven or eight games. In other words, we are stuck in football hell.

Before the season, many of us expected a 7-9 wins, probably almost leaning to the 7-8 wins, transition season etc. Then, we go 3-0, totally changed, at least for me, the expectations. Now they're sitting at 3-3, and I find myself pissed off about something I expected before the season started. Oh......being a Hawks fan

Salk just listed 16 terrible mistakes that even if 4-5 of them are different we may win the game. That’s on the players not on the staff. They flat out need to play better.

I love DK but you have multiple drops, couldn’t get your feet down and you’re yelling at the OC to get you the ball? Seriously?

When you put it that way…the games really do remind me of preseason games where the ulterior motive is about player evaluation not the actual outcome of the game.

I still expected a mediocre season, I was just really hoping for a win against the Niners at home for once. But hey even if the hawks did with the excuses would be coming out that the Niners were on a downward trend and did not have CMC etc. so the win would still be hollow.

Reality is we were convinced early that the team was improved from last season however, it appears that is not necessarily so. It was I suppose hopeful thinking and the true reality is now revealed to us all unhappily. i do think the team is headed in the right direction but there are some obvious problems the keep on repeating themselves.

The last two losses at home have both been embarrassing losses where the D was simply poor and bad enough to be considered awful. The last big run given up when the Seahawks were trying to even things up with the 49ers was another example of an inability to both seal the edge and tackle. The team needed a stop and then gave up a huge run and then an easy touchdown. The D is letting the O down but the O is not strong enough to establish any consistency against teams that are above average.

After 6 games I'm not really of a view the team is truly as good as it could be.

FO probably wanted some headlines like Geno & DK league leading yards so they been pushing the passing. Making them the new popular qb/wr duo. Sadly its the turnover duos right now. Angry Duos. Sulking Duos

To me, the problems are an inexperienced and injured offensive line and inconsistent play from the middle linebackers.
The poor o-line play is causing a lot of problems for Geno. The d-line is taking on double teams, but the linebackers are not in staying in their gaps or get caught by blocking. In my opinion, this is our biggest problem as a team. We are weak against the run.

It’s disappointing to be sure. Starting 3-0 and going to 3-3 really puts it into perspective, especially when you tell yourself that the Giants game should’ve definitely been a win and a few different plays against SF and you’re instead looking at 5-1.

However, even though I’m upset with any loss and disappointed and do think MM needs to do better, I’m not spiraling out of control because of it.

Before the season, if someone said we'll be 3-3? I'd take it. But, I don't know about anyone else, but this sure doesn't feel like 3-3. Hard to explain, but damn they have a lot of work to be done.
