We used to dictate the game, want to be on defense and inflict attitude and physicality on the offense and cause doubt and fear about going places on the field.

On offense we had Lynch and a physical running attack, prior it Unger leaving a physical Line and we would pound you into submission and use Wilson and his legs and arm to demoralize you.

We are getting the offense side back, but on defense we are not setting the tone of the game, we come out playing off waiting for you to make a mistake rather then force you to make a mistake, we are not playing down hill but on our heals, we don't have that scent for blood and attacking type demeanor.

They have heart, they don't quit, but they don't have a killer instinct either.

To me it's like going into a bar wanting to meet a Lady but sit on your stool all night hoping one will come up to you and start talking versus buying one a drink or asking one to dance yourself, a bit of assertive aggression can go a long way.

This is Pete's lack of trust or belief in his guys getting it and passive aggressive mentality, much like Wilson he is a competitor but not the fiery guy but a rah rah guy like Pete in a lot of ways.

That nasty fiery mentality of Lynch, Sherman, Kam, Bryant, Bennett and Avril and yes Earl. Some were leaders and some set an attitude on the field but it was there and not really there play to play now from what I am seeing.

Clark had some of that as does Reed, hopefully his return can infuse more of it.

What we found out is that if Wilson is less than perfect we are screwed, as no one will step up.

You should not have to rely on Wilson being lights out just to win, when you set the tone and physicality then your aggressive on both sides of the ball. We are in a prevent defense mind set as a team I guess is a good way to describe it.

Here is the thing, Pete was out to prove he was a NFL Coach and wanted to do it his way, he did that, but in doing so he set the tone and type of team he wanted to put on the field going against convention, the league adapted and not sure if since Pete did it and made it (Super Bowl win) he has relaxed in his drive to be cutting edge rather then use what worked before.

Sure he needs players that fit that mold, but he has not went after guys with attitudes and chips on their shoulders as much as he did previously either. We have a bunch of really good guys over all, which is fine, but a bit of edginess is what set us apart week to week before.

On top of all that, Pete has GOT to get his head out of his ass during the game. He's gotta get out of the way on offense. He needs to light a fire under Norton's ass on the defensive side of the ball. Regardless of the talent, that whole unit is disjointed. And finally, for God's sake someone PLEEEAAASSE stand up to him and point out how costly his idiotic challenge flag usage is. There is absolutely NO reason to have ZERO timeouts, AT HOME, with 7 or so minutes left before halftime. ESPECIALLY if your OC has us going down to the last nanosecond before snapping the ball. That shit just won't fly against most of these younger new school teams/coaching staffs, let alone top tier coaches like Harbaugh, Peyton etc.
All that little shit really adds up and throws entire game plans out the window.

And if I see ONE MORE gottdamn bubble screen to Lockett, who seems to go to the ground faster than Russell does upon being hit, I just might stop watching altogether. Why is that horizontal shit in our play book? Especially with the lack of proper personnel to run that goofy shit?

He doesnt have to be perfect but he needs to play better than Tavaris Jackson. Wilson has only 4 pick 6s in his career we lost all 4. That few is actually pretty amazing. Manning has 27 and Brady has 14

Found this stat.

Since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970, teams that return an interception for a touchdown in a game are 1,187-343-3, a winning percentage of 77.5. Teams with multiple interception return TDs in the same game have been virtually unbeatable, now 95-4 after the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday behind pick-sixes from Troy Polamalu and LaMarr Woodley.

In our 2 losses we gave up 14 points thats almost insurmountable. Especially against good teams like the Saints and Ravens

We are not the best team in the league but people are over thinking our losses. Its pretty simple. If we dont make bonehead mistakes and give up free TDs,we will win most of our games.

By super narrow margins, which loops me right back to the points I made above. Because if we continue our current style of play, all it will take is a missed FG, untimely penalty (that can't be challenged because of our Peter Carroll) or any number of other minute mistakes that become gigantic due to going into cruise control when we should be mashing the throttle.

All teams lose by untimely penalties, missed FGs or a bad decision. Thats the human element in sports. Margin of victory only counts when I bet and I never bet for or against my team.

I have never seen this team go on cruise control.

Why do you think Pete and John drafted guys like Collier, Metcalf, Blair and Carson. They know this, and they're TRYING to get back to being a more physical punishing team that dictates on both sides of the ball.

So yeah, we're trying, we're just not being very successful at getting enough of these types of players...........because the reality is every other team saw what we did 8-9 years ago, and is copying that model.

Rams
Niners
Broncos after we kicked their ass in the SB
Ravens
Cowboys
Eagles after they fired Chip Kelly
Vikings
Packers

On and on, the model is young physical fast defense and punishing run game with explosive dynamic play action/QB play. Sound familiar?

I did not say we should, but that is were we are at. What I still don't understand is we went to a quick passing attack for 1 drive and scored. Then no more. We seemed to go back to the run, and send everyone long. Then when we tried to go back to it a little it was to late.

You know we ran off, traded, refused to re-sign most of the 'killer instinct' players right?

I think your assessments are fair to a point but I think your missing a key aspect. How many pro bowl players have the Hawks lost on D? and everybody has the expectation that those players are going to be replaced in 1 or two years? I have friends that are 49er fans and they say the Seahawks D in the past was among the best EVER.. So my question to everybody is How realistic is it that JS and PC replace those Player with the same quality player that everybody is used to in 1-2 years...

So yeah, the Hawks are not as good on defense, they have players they like but need to grow into the roles...

Yep, cause they were a disruption to the team.

Remember two years ago when we missed the playoffs? Yeah, all those "killer instinct" players were hurt or playing like crap at the time, AND soaking up over 50% of our cap.

lol , yep, we all love instant mashed potato's, but I'm pretty sure Pete is savvy enough to recognize elite talent, and also knows that some players take a little longer to "Get It".

You have them to win, but have to measure when they begin to start reading press clippings and turn that angst internal, fine line maybe but it is what makes a difference.

Seems it starts getting toxic on 3rd deal.
