I have a question for you guys where the answer is fairly obvious but would love to hear from you all.

What thoughts and what type of excitement do you think goes on in a players head when they get traded to a legit super bowl contender such as the Seahawks. I mean you have Cliff Avril from the Lions, Michael Bennett from Tampa bay, and Harvin from the Vikings. What type of extra motivation do you think this adds to their own game play. What kind of effect do you think it has on the rest of the team in terms of competitiveness?

It’s a shame to see great players who are essentially stuck on a losing team their entire career. Barry Sanders being the most famous example.

Avril and Bennett weren't traded here...Harvin, I'm sure, was excited to get out of Minnesota and thankful the Seahawks wanted him on the team.

Well Avril and Bennet chose to sign here. They were free agents. And both said that they wanted to sign here because of how good the Seahawks are.

I met Marshawn Lynch right after he was traded here from Buffalo, and even though the Hawks weren't as good then as they are now, he still said that he was relieved and excited to be here rather than stuck in Buffalo.

I don't know how you COULDN'T be excited about joining a contender.

Obviously it adds a lot to the experience and you probably get a bit more effort as a result. However, ultimately these guys play in the NFL where it's a business and they typically go where the money is.

But if you can get the money and the elite team, bonus for you. Your level of play will be elevated as well due to the competitive nature of the locker room and practice field.

That's why I have a lot of confidence in our offense. They have to face our defense every week in practice and that is tough.

It is a very powerful thing when you get guys buying in to the culture and schemes by seeing it result in success on the field. Ownership and accountability bring the best out in people in a competitive environment.

Barry actually was in a few Playoff games, they just never won any,(Wayne Fontes)sp) Days. I have always been a Hawks Fan.(But I have always rooted for the underdog Detroit Lions) just not this year. (look Avril would be in the hunt in Detroit, he might have even helped that line with Suh and Fairley and LBer Levy) And history shows FA sign with a contender sometimes for less $$$$$$$ than a rebuilder.

Oops my bad on Avril and Bennett - But i guess along the same theme. It must be an amazing feeling to be where they are at here in Seattle and seeing where their current teams are at now.

I'm curious... When it comes time to resign Russ, Sherm, Ear, etc... I wonder how many will take less pay to keep the team together rather than risk joining a new team and having that uncertainty?

They haven't always worked out great for us either. Franco Harris is the shining example of Caveat Emptor!

Also remember that every game outside of regular season they get another pay check. Although that may not be considered, it does happen. I think they are looking at a great team and ethics of the team and the win possibility. Hall of Fame aside...the Ring is the goal....my precious. LOL :p

As for how these guys feel, someone above said it best. Bennett and Avril took value contracts to get on this team. 'Nuff said.

Playoff paychecks are laughably tiny, and smaller than regular season game checks...
