He believes whatever gets him clicks
Maybe. This is now fourth year in a row when he keeps on with his "I believe John Schneider is itching to draft a quarterback" mantra, and when John again does not, Staton will say he never believed this was the year John will do so. But still, to me, reading about the quarterback prospects is interesting and it's fun to get my hopes up for actually getting an interesting prospect to watch grow. Just to see the hopes wither and die, off course. So clicks he will get.

And eventually, he will be right because one day there will be a year when the Seahawks will draft a quarterback. With or without Schneider.

Anyway, Allar is a good example why it's harder now to draft a QB without a top pick. The QB:s, who are not considered to go early in the first round, will stay at College for longer because they get paid there. So there will be less guys with unproven potential later in the draft. They had more incentive to turn pro when they did not get paid at college.

Stanton is such an attention whore, it wouldn't surprise me to find out that his last name is actually Kelce.

Id prefer to not commit to Geno as the starter for next year, because I think we know who he is and I don't expect further development from him, but I believe there's at least a legitimate argument for riding with him for the last year of his deal. However, it absolutely floors me that there are fans who actually want to extend him with a new contract that would start in his age 36 season. We're seeing the Falcons get burned on giving a guy that old a new contract, and nearly every example of a QB being a high-quality starter into their late 30s are guys who have been doing it for forever. They aren't guys you pay and hope they finally take that next step.

Absolutely correct . Gino will never excel in the red zone. Just can’t process the condensed field in the red zone . Schneider has painted himself in a corner. CutGino go after Darnold. BTW if we arn’t going to use DK let’s trade him. Gino is locking in on JSN too much.
Who the hell is Gino?

Anyone think it was a mistake not trying to bring in Baker Mayfield when he was available? Maybe it wouldn't have mattered behind this OL but man he's turned it around and I always thought he was a baller with moxie and had the potential to be a good team leader.

Their pass blocking is terrible. Burrow is a master at getting the ball out a lot like Brady was. I think every grading site had them worse than ours. Both are terrible so it’s probably splitting hairs but the main difference is Burriw processes things extremely fast
Burrow also has recievers who can get open consistently. Outside of Jaxon, our recievers are struggling at that this season.

We have a good or better than most receiving room. There are plays to be made and many receiver rooms are terrible. I don’t think that has anything to do with the variance in output. Higgins his number two has missed multiple games. Now we would all love a Jamar Chase for sure

Never implied our recievers weren't good. I said they've had issues this season getting separation unlike Cincinnatis recievers. It's been well documented in all_22 film study. Everyone bitches about Geno holding the ball too long, which in some cases that's true, but a lot of the time the film show recievers are simply not getting open. Mainly DK and Lockett.

I haven’t watched a ton of Bengals all22 but I think a lot of it is Burrow isn’t afraid of a tight window throw and at this point Geno is a little bit because of the high turnover number.

Geno has been good between the 20’s largely so if receivers aren’t getting open it doesn’t square up. Sure at times that’s the case because the line doesn’t hold up or bad route trees but not that often or else he would be struggling in the main portion of the field. His struggles are near the goal line.

I’m only going to add that Geno was viewed the exact same way Sam is for almost a decade. You never know. I think Howell is talented so he has the tool. Now it’s a long shot he’s the next Geno but I wouldn’t say it’s impossible. I’m also not saying I want him to have the job next year, I don’t

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, our main chance to get him was the summer RW3 left and Geno was far better at that point. I'd rather have Mayfield than Geno now but the Geno of 2022 was better.

Was it a mistake not to draft Purdy in the 7th Round that year?

Drake Maye's line is pretty good. Watching some of Maye's TDs and he's had a lot of time. Literally have never seen Geno with so much time. Also, some really beautiful passes from Maye!

It's actually pretty impressive. Even his interceptions are just bad decisions or being aggressive and not because of the pocket collapsing. Here's a few screenshots a second before picks.

Geno is just dealing with tougher conditions regarding the line -- DK and JSN should be better than anything Maye has. And Maye is a rookie who is learning the speed of the game, but it's a good thing NE has a solid line.

Maye also gets sacked in dumb situations too. How does this turn into a sack.

Just thought it'd be fun to dive into another QB. Maye's a young QB who will continue to get better. Obviously you're not too upset at any of this.
Good post and I appreciate the effort. Let me ask you though is it possible you’re cherry picking successful plays? We can see Geno touchdowns where the line holds up really well too. I only ask this because I just looked up every analytics site and they alll have the Patriots line as worse in almost every metric. Their fan base complains about it as much as we do too and they’re watching every snap. PFF, PFN, ESPN all have the patriots as a whole worse.

If those sites are right, Maye is a rookie, his skill position guys are terrible etc and he’s putting up similar numbers my argument is Geno could be playing better than he is. Now maybe Maye is a special talent, he was drafted extremely high and some scouts do view him that way.

Not saying you’re wrong just thinking out loud.

Anyway I liked going through your breakdown and Maye looks promising. Not thrilled NE could have another great QB but what are we going to do?

I wanted Baker so bad and I think he’s the better QB then and now. Geno was better in that first half of 22 but other then that I think Mayfield has been better every step of the way.

I wanted Mayfield too and was roundly mocked on here for it.

I was mocked like two weeks ago for saying I think he’s better than Geno. They thought it wasn’t even remotely close and Geno was miles ahead of Baker. I was also told I don’t know foootball because of that take so maybe don’t listen to me!
