I said the Panthers game.

A loss to start the season will deflate a LOT of balloons out there, and many of those will pop very loudly. Once the initial freak-outs get out of the collective system (and the bandwagoners go on their merry way), all will settle in for a more realistic approach in week two.

Lose the home-opener? Well, we'll have several taking Valium then.

No way will .NET get past the preseason without a meltdown.

Yeah, I think meltdowns are just part of what it is to be a fan. We all don't experience fandom the same way, but half the boards related to NFL teams each week have meltdowns. The only fans that don't have meltdowns are fans of long-terrible teams. Like, look at Big Cat Country after a loss, and everything is just expected to go wrong at this point.

Sports are a way to get our raw emotions out in an acceptable way, I think.

What if they go 2-0 to start the season? Assuming that, what game could they lose to start just a complete core meltdown?

If they lost at both Houston and Indy, that'd do it. (Since I assume if they're starting 2-0, they're going 3-0 as the 3rd game is against Jax)

Panther's loss...

Expectations are so high they sit atop Mt. Everest. Any slip will be disastrous. A Panther's loss would have some not simply slipping, but diving off the mountain and straight into the deepest part of the Grand Canyon. For others it will simply start an avalanche, picking up all kinds of negativity and accusations along the way.

Come the following Sunday, some at base camp will be under piles of "angsty wench" type snow. Should that happen, our saving grace will be a 49'er scarf wearing St. Bernard carrying a barrell of Harbaugh whiskey under its slobbering jowls. One taste of that nasty action will have our meldown victims warmed up on the insides so much so they'll be breathing fire by Sunday night, and hurling snowballs at their televisions and from every level of the Clink aiming for anything wearing red and gold!

May God save us all from such a calamity...

Yeah, it would be really frustrating to lose BOTH of those games. One, I think I can live with.

Maybe irrationally, I expect that they should win both of those games, 10 AM starts on the road be damned. I feel like our team is just flat out better than Houston's and much, much, MUCH better than Indy's.

The first time we lose the coin toss would be absolutely devastating - don't think I could ever recover from that.

I 100% agree. Schaub and Johnson might play out of their minds, but Schaub has come up really short in big games. However, JJ Watt is going to be a handful. I expect a number of rollouts to the other side of the field for Wilson to avoid those big mitts.

The first meltdown will come with the first loss. Regardless to whoever it is. And especially if it happens within the first couple weeks. People are seriously expecting this team to be flawless. The perfect set up for an epic meltdown when the team shows it's mortality.

Any game they lose first will be a meltdown, and I'll live in the Shack until after the next game is played.

I went with Carolina. The average fan that doesn't follow the Panthers doesn't realize how underrated that team is. I'd be borderline meltdown even then; our offense should dominate them as they probably have the worst secondary in the league, or close to it. Our defense matches up well with them, and we have weaknesses we can exploit with our offense, but they're still tough.

SF is a borderline second. After we thumped them last year, I think it's the expectation of the average person that we'll do it again up here. I see pass rush being a problem if we don't sort out Clemons replacement after game 1. I put the Panthers first because I think even the most homeristic Seahawk fan understands SF is a very talented and deep team just like us. They can be in every game they play and with our schedule, we really need this game. They also want blood after how it ended last year.

Other, when Seattle beats Denver by ONLY 24 points in the Superbowl, to complete a perfect season, and starts Seattle's Lombardi run!

Let it be said: Nobody here is less of a fan if they flip out at the first sign of anything less than perfection.

It just means you're a fan.

Nothing is worse than apathy. NOTHING.

Well, hyperbole is pretty high up there at least.
