Being the original poster on this thread, I was hoping for and predicting that Rogers is the pick.

I am a massive no on Minshew. Might as well ride with Sam Howell. Minshew is bad and has no potential for being good. He is a fine back up for a team but nothing more. I find it odd anyone wants him here at all.

I'm re-evaluating.

If Darnold comes, the O-Line will not be able to help him as much as in Minnesota and other factors per Brendon Nelson.

I'm out of touch in this off-season.

I didn’t think it matters any more?

JSN will be double teamed out of all significance the whole season.

No doubt people will then want him traded too.

Why did 37 people vote so far for Howell? Do you really think he’s the best choice? If he wasn’t on the roster would you ever had voted for him?
It’s not that he’s the best out of the choices. It’s that when/if we grab a QB in this upcoming draft, new guy can sit behind Howell and learn.

We’re putting a lot of marbles in one basket here for sure.

The idea that JSN won't be able to succeed because DK is gone is absurd. We do need a burner type receiver though and I'm betting we get one in the draft or free agency.

I too think JSN needs other threats with him out there. Someone that often requires a double team and/or the high safety to consider.

Back to the QB - if we sign Sam Darnold to some outrageous contract, I’ll truly be pissed. If it’s a reasonable salary, sure. Our team isn’t nowhere near as talented as Minnesota on the offensive side of the ball.

Thinking Darnold will be our savior is absurd.

Perfect time to build the trenches, draft a QB and shore up some positions with good FA’s. Like…not past their prime FA’s (see Greg Olsen’s tenure with the Hawks).

I like the idea of signing Darnold to 2 years at about 30 million a piece (probably with some void year stuff to spread the hit).

Give him a year to see if he's the guy, draft his replacement if he's not the guy and let him finish year 2 while the rookie sits for a year and prepares.

That, for me, is the best option right now. Guess you could do the same with Fields, who I know Klint was a fan of.

I didn’t say that.

If you think that any amount of rookie WRs are going to take the defensive attention away from the one stellar talent left on the roster for (insert name here) to throw to, then I’d like some of what you’re smoking, please 😀

Like say a rookie second rounder that DK was maybe? Sounds almost impossible!
No way we can get a fast WR that demands attention downfield!

To be clear he doesn't have to be a DK type. All we need is someone fast enough to make the safeties pay attention.
