My hope was that Geno would be reasonable with his contract demands, given his age, or that he'd be forced to acknowledge reality once the market had its say. The moment DK demanded a trade, though, Geno's time was done here and 2025 was over for the Seahawks.
As far as Seattle's decision-making capability, everyone's been demanding John Schneider's firing for months. NOW his decision-making is unimpeachable? You don't get to jump back and forth on that.
But you still haven't answered MY question. You wanted someone else long before DK demanded a trade and I still want to know who that was. You don't seem to particularly care whether said quarterback is even conscious as long as he's *checks notes"...younger. That's not a plan. Sighing dramatically and murmuring "just do SOMETHING different" is not a plan. If ever a position can be downgraded, that quote is exactly how it happens. What makes you think the likes of Daniel Jones is going to do well here?
And don't misrepresent my position. My position was that the rest of the offense was bottom-of-the-league terrible, that Geno had to contend with that, and that he could have been elite with even a league-average supporting cast. You're ignoring a great deal of unambiguous analysis (I'm so, so sorry that I only provided you with two, my bad, I'll do 27 next time) as well as plenty of chatter on this board that confirms how bad the offense was. Are you really denying how the OL stunk?
And he has not statistically regressed three years in a row. You're straight up lying there. He definitely had bad moments and I've copped to them. But I am not putting blinders on to the rest of the team's problems just because the quarterback is the most visually prominent part of the offense on a TV broadcast.
He has statistically regressed so tread lightly with calling people liars. Go look at his red zone stuff, touchdowns and ints, let’s look at his 3rd down numbers. Did some stats go up? Sure yardage for one. But many he’s played worse than he did in 2022 and I’m not going to call you a liar for ignoring that because that’s goofy. I haven’t seen anyone argue he had a better year drastically in 2024 than he did in 2022?
Who do I want? You can go two ways. I’d be good with Darnold and drafting a guy early to sit behind him, even an early pick. He’s 27 so he’s younger, had a great year in a similar system and familiarity with Kubiak. Why people are pissed with Darnold who had almost 40 touchdowns, torched Seattle and his throw to Jefferson and is talented but are adamant losing Geno is an insurmountable mountain to climb makes zero sense.
My favorite option is going cheaper with someone like Cousins and grabbing a Dart if he’s there. But it’s so early in the process I don’t like committing to someone because it’s tough to say.
If I’m wrong and all you guys are right why did the league not value him like you do? He went for a 3rd round pick to his old coach. Think about it, if he’s much better than me and most people think it should’ve played out they way and teams get into a bidding war for him. They didn’t yet you're not moving off your stance of elite, which when guys like maelstrom say no one is calling him elite and you just sit there silent while saying im being disingenuous is a little rich.
Also the Seahawks don’t need my plan, they a plan and I guarantee if you’re thought about it so have John/Mike. They don’t just trade Geno and are hoping for the best. They probably already have their next guy and a plan b,c etc if they can’t get him.
Now if you want to continue this debate in a fun light hearted manner I’d love to. If you just want to be snarky, throw out names etc then I’m good to move on from it. The Geno zealots are exausting(just as you feel the haters are) and he’s gone so I don’t really care anymore.
