I know many on this board would probably say I am crazy to even pose this question. However, if you had rooted for the Seahawks as long as I had from back in the 80s and suffered through the disaster of XL, you would understand why I put this poll out. In my opinion, XL was an even bigger disappointment to me being that they did not win a Super Bowl up until that point. Obviously XLIX was a colossal disaster, but the sting was not as bad as they had just won the year before. Thoughts?

XL was our first time in the big game, so I was just happy to be there.

XLIX: we had a 10 point lead going into the 4th, Marshawn was gashing a tired NE defense, and we WOULD NOT STOP throwing the damn ball!

For me XLIX didn’t sting quite as much probably because of the high I still had from the win in XLVIII and had such a great team at the time. In hindsight I’d say XLIX is harder in the long run but strictly looking ar my immediate reactions XL felt worse.

SB 49, and it's not even close.

We lost XL by two scores, so I had begun to accept defeat with a couple minutes left in the game. But in SB 49, we had defeat snatched out of the jaws of victory. I was on an incredible high after Kearse made that spectacular catch, and was thinking don't score too quickly so as to give the Pats enough time to tie the game with a FG. Horrible, horrible ending, the worst I've ever felt after a sporting contest, wasn't right for several days. I still haven't gotten over it.

XL, period.

Reason being, XLIX was our own fault. I can accept giving away a win because I believe in betting on yourself in life and therefore you eat what you kill. Our fault, own it like a man, lick your wounds and move forward.

XL was a straight up corrupt sabotage and if there's one thing I won't accept it's the establishment rigging the system so they can win. F the NFL and their Jerome Bettis storyline agenda. Now don't get me wrong, I believe in cheating your ass off because if you're not cheating you aren't trying. But that's on the field of play. When the overall, responsible, supposedly "neutral" authority rigs it to F you, well that's where I draw the line.

XL, and it isn't even a comparison IMO.

I see by the poll results so far that we have younger fans participating.

XL was a clear and obvious sham and scam of a game from the get go. The only thing worse to me than the result was that I was there in person for it, standing in freezing rain for hours to take the shuttle bus to and from the game.

I would bet my mother’s life that game was rigged. Disgusting.

XLIX was an incredible Super Bowl to watch that had nothing to do with bad officiating and steering. It just was a profoundly awful ending for 12s.

XL still makes me angry thinking about it, fact that the Officials stated after the fact they screwed us, the NFL did nothing to Holmgren calling them out several times says a lot. The whole Nation chimed in here stating how badly we got screwed and how it was fixed, that's fans from almost every team from around the league, even a few Steeler fans stated they were handed the game.

XLIX hurt because we had it, it was basically a done deal, the call by Bevell with blessing of a pass play from Pete was stupid, in fact the whole last 1:23 if I remember was lesson in cluster F.U.C.K. As many said it was not that they had a pass, it was the play called with the personnel on the field and Browner needing to be blocked, add that Browner knew the play.

Lynch if they had just run the play right away could have tried and probably succeeded in getting it in, but bad clock management, getting cute, created confusion. Running a play right away would have gave them time to run another.

They both sucked for their own special reasons. But 49 by Secretariat lengths at the Belmont Stakes for me. Considering what was at stake and the when and how and why it happened, that was one of the most shocking losses I've ever see in any major team sport in America, maybe the most. And it happened to MY TEAM!

Play action or bootleg wins the game. Good God what a maddening play call based on personnel.

Send Lynch to the left, misdirect to the right, throw back to Lynch who is likely wide ass open in the end zone and a dynasty may have begun.

Of course, hindsight as they say, is always 20/20.

Sigh.

I can't even choose. XL the Hawks never had a chance. The NFL was never going to allow us to win that one. They had way to much to lose if we did. XLIX ripped my heart out with the dumbest playcall ever that prevented us from repeating.

Toss up.

Easy answer for me, as I was in the stands. That play happened right in front of me. I've never been more pissed off at a sporting event in my life. That being said, it's not THE reason they lost. Been saying it the last decade and I won't stop. Final play was one of several factors.
XL, like someone mentioned, was more infuriating. That game was pre-determined. No way in hell the refs were going to allow the Hawks to win.

Two in a row is special and we gave it away. It’s not even close.

There was elation with just having made the Super Bowl in XL. It seemed a natural progression.

All that said, you have no idea how bad I wish Big Walt could have tasted a championship. I still think he is the greatest Seahawk ever.

Or even on that play going back to the check-down like 1/4 beat later. Lynch was all alone at like the 3 with nobody around him. 😭
