He 100% was safe if he slid. But also, what was Arozarena doing as the on-deck guy? He has to signal him down.
JP has also now had a errant throw that almost took off Raley's arm and then drops a routine GB to SS. Pee test in his immediate future? By the team?

Wake up JP, you're drunk.
Followed by....cough cough
He's been great..... Would also be great if Julio could produce like that on this upcoming road trip before the breakRandy's gotta be player of the week, right?
6 HR's just this past week, while hitting nearly .350 (aka tree fiddy).
I wouldn't pull a guy mid game. I would give him the next start off. Just a subtle reminder to all that you finish the play. Even if it was just a mistake and not laziness, which neither were, I would. I am 70's old school guy. Run through a wall if that is what is needed. I know it is more of a participation award era.I mean, if you want to take your best players off the field to make a point, which may very well cost you a game, that's cool. Might be a better way to make that point though that won't cost you a game. Our lineup is straight ass without JP and Cal.

My counterpoint is this: If they sit Cal the next start after his, maybe JP takes that to heart and slides because that is how the game is played and he doesn't want to miss the next start. All Hypothetical of course but that is why you do it.I get where you're coming from, but like I said, there are other ways to make a point without hurting the team. It has nothing to do with participation trophies. It's about giving your team the best chance to win.

I remember Philly benching Harper for not running out a ball to first. It is just a reminder to others that nobody is bogger than the game so don't repeat his mistake.
Yes but my point is everybody gets the message and not just the guy that screwed up.For me, if it happens once, you have a firm talk with the guy after the game and make it crystal clear that it won't be tolerated. If it happens again, then yeah, dude's getting benched.
