Sorry to hurt some feelings around here, but this stat from Pro Football Focus pleases me. I've seen a few people talk up Patrick Peterson as an elite corner in this league, and I've just done some head shaking. He has shown plenty of flashes, but he's not even in the discussion for top few corners in the league right now in my opinion. Here is the stat:

Arizona Cardinals: When quarterbacks have targeted Patrick Peterson, they have a perfect Quarterback Rating of 158.3. They have completed eight of 10 passes for 134 yards and two touchdowns without an interception.

Can I get some arms raised, some hallelujahs thrown out, for the most overrated corner in the league?

You did. I've seen some people parrot it around here, too. Wrong in all cases.

IMO, the single most important attribute for a corner to be even in the discussion of being elite is consistency. The best wide receivers in the game have wildly up and down games from week to week. Just look at the game-by-game stats for Julio and Megatron last year if you don't believe me. CB is different, though. You need to be playing very well, week in and week out, to be considered elite; and Patrick Peterson has NEVER demonstrated that kind of consistency.

I laughed when people said it would be #1 wr vs #1 cb In The league this last week. Peterson got owned so badly by megatron.

That whiff on Megatron they showed on nfln was golden! Peterson wanted nothing to do with him, and just kind of let him go.

Comparing Peterson to Sherman is like comparing last year's Luck to last year's Wilson. It's so football stupid, it hurts.

Man, I wish I could remember who said this, but one of the expert tv analysts said he was a league MVP candidate before the season started.
