PFF Oline ranking-Hawks worst in the NFL

Yeah we all pretty much knew this but now PFF has even backed it up. At least we have seen some improved line play in recent weeks.

That's simply unacceptable when we have such a golden window of opportunity. You can't waste it by having this mess of an oline. I think you pretty much have to fire Cable this offseason, and probably Bevell too, though honestly he doesn't deserve as much blame as Cable, John and Pete.

This was obvious from week 1 this season. The Seahawk OL is not even terrible, they're turdible. This is what happens when you bet on Nowak, Britt, and Gilliam to be starters. These guys are depth guys not starting caliber players (at this point). Thus the results we are seeing week to week. Hopefully PC and JS have learned their lesson and will give more thought to OL in the future. If not FA, then at least the draft. If they had in 2012-14 draft, maybe the situation wouldn't be as bad.

As the last couple of seasons have proven, at least with this QB and RB. But they done pushed the envelope a bit too far this time. Asking way to much of those guys.

You can make a legitimate argument that the oline is more important than some of these areas, but considering the players are now signed, locked and loaded, it is what it is for this year.

We either restructure the areas of the team next year so that you weaken one spot for the benefit of the line, or we hope to hit a homerun while bargain shopping.

But this is why some cringed when money was given out to certain individuals. The oline we now are stuck with is the consequence.

And to a certain extent the choices you make as a GM on where to be fat and where to be thin are limited based on the market at the time of transaction. As anyone who has played poker knows, it only takes a few knuckleheads at a table to throw off normally consistent and rational play amongst the population at the table.

They were playing catchup against some of the best teams in the league to start the season. At this point, Britt and Nowak are looking confident and playing at a much higher level than they were in August or September.

Stud: Credit to Jack Mewhort (86.6) for doing a good job wherever he lines up.

Dud: When he’s played, Hugh Thornton (45.2) has allowed way too much pressure up the middle.

Summary: The struggles of Andrew Luck might make the offensive line look worse than it is, but the truth is that, while some have struggled, for the most part this line has done a good job handling the toughest assignments out there.

Wait wait wait wait.... The current talking head reason for Lucks failures are because he has the worst O-line and that, its the GMs fault for putting that horrible line together. This has been trumpeted by most.

They had virtually nothing tied up in QB for the last 3 years so not much of an excuse. Nor should it have been why some cringed, They had 3+ years to fix the oline. They have no excuses at all.

Dallas is #1 on the list, and 80% of their OL consists of three 1st-rounders and a fourth would-have-been 1st rounder (La'el Collins).

Seattle is dead last, and 80% of their OL consists of an undrafted college DT in the MAC conference who had never appeared in an NFL game, an undrafted college TE who was a part-time-starting OT as a senior and who didn't play any meaningful snaps as a rookie last season, a 7th round college DT who has been a middling OG thus far in his career, and a 2nd round pick who was a MAJOR reach that everyone else had graded as a 3rd day pick, and who was a disaster for the better part of his rookie season.

The OL has been neglected for years now, under a false belief that Tom Cable can turn water into wine. And now we're all paying the price for it.

Said it the other day. It is absurd that anyone ever thought this would be a good group to be protecting a $20MM franchise QB. Maybe they will get better but I sure hope Wilson doesn't get demolished first.
