Interesting take here. I can see that a little bit, but the fact is that the team wasn’t doing well, Pete seemed to not be getting through to the players anymore, and fans like myself were fed up. On top of that the scheme and player acquisition for Pete’s last five years sucked.

I saw that interview on Brock and Salk yesterday. It was interesting. As far as the part about what the departure was about, not so sure about how he put it. I could be wrong, but I think the team wanted to move on and PC made it sound like he stepped aside to let JS have his time.

Was it John’s time to lead? If Carroll said “yes” then all of the drafts Carroll was part of, he made all those picks….

However, I agree, Carroll tried to tell Jody Allen, the team was not far from winning but that was not true.

Yes, the players would could no longer listen to Carroll’s tired old approach and schemes.

So, I don’t care either way, being let go or quitting, Carroll needed to leave.

I like where the team is now and it’s exciting again.

Thank you for your time Pete.

We’ll see you preseason week 1 in the “Carroll revenge against the Seahawks game!”

That is the about same as calling a bear mauling an unprovoked attack after coming across it sleeping with its cubs, picking up a cub and then poking the adult with a stick.

He said “I could support the thought”

Oh, Pete's an advisor for us now. It's about the softest firing ever. In previous takes by Pete he talkd about staying and coaching the next years team. SO.....revisionist history in the public eye says he wanted John to get a chance? That's a stretch. But when one oozes energy and positivity plus was at two superbowls......it's all good. Keep winning Pete.
The drafts are looking better. Staff has a large input. Our defense is set to go past fixed to stellar. Personally I wouldn't draft an offensive player at number 6. It was a very valuable pick because Jeanty was there. But the Raiders needed so much more.

Yup, of course Pete's going to put the most positive spin on his exit. That's who he is!

I thought the Ashton Jeanty pick was a great move by Pete and the Raiders. We will find out... Would you draft Barry Sanders at #6? It's possible Jeanty could have almost a Sanders-type impact, in a somewhat different style. Not sure who else Raiders could have drafted there that would lift the team and fit Pete's style as much.

Love Pete, his time had passed, and he too often pursued shiny objects. However, Pete has learned lessons and re-invented himself multiple times in his career, and I'm sure he's done major soul-searching in his time between jobs, so it will be fascinating to see the adjustments he's made now that he's coaching the Raiders. Pete, becoming an OL trenches first guy? Lay off the shiny objects? Could this happen? I don't consider Jeanty a shiny object, but rather a foundational piece. It will be fun to watch!

That's not what he said when he was let go. I remember him saying he tried to convince Jodi the team was almost there and he competed to stay as head coach.
Yeah. He absolutely said he competed hard to keep his job.

Anyway, Love Pete. And I wish him all the best, except against Seahawks.

"Fired? Nah, I quit that job. They were basically begging me to stay."

Pretty sure I've used that one.
Like "Have you ever been fired?" Hell no!...Now, I have been let go while they were still hiring.

Huge appreciation & respect for PC but water under the bridge.
I wish Pete the best of luck in the AFC West but there are only 5 games I really want them to win.

Raiders vs Chiefs x 2
Raiders vs Broncos x 2
Raiders vs Cowboys (Nov 17)
