Penalties got better

Overall, we had two offensive penalties (one by Lynch on his illegal motion/false start, one by Wilson on his illegal forward pass that was in fact legal), three accepted defensive penalties (none of which were on drives that resulted in touchdowns), and one on special teams that benefitted us.

The big thing is that we didn't have any offensive line penalties. Every time we had a decent run, I was just waiting for the flag, and pleasantly surprised when they never came.

Having Unger back certainly helped but I have to say Bailey looked better at LG in this game than I have EVER seen Carpenter look in any game.

Props to the Refs. Our line was more polished finally, but it was apparent from teh non-call PI at the beginning of the game, that the refs werent going to be a factor in this game. I was very happy to see that. It was nice to watch a game without constant yellow every play.

I wouldn't read to much into it. The refs definitely "swallowed the flags" on this one and let the teams play. The number of uncalled penalties (especially o-line holding by the Giants) was almost comical. It was frustrating during the first half as I kept expecting unbalanced calls to start pouring in on us. Once it became clear that it was an old-school, only call blatant fouls and let em play, game, it was really nice to watch.

Speaking of penalties: I had to shake my head over Troy, Buck and then Pereira all over the fact that Maxwell's excellent pass defense on the 4th and 10 was a blown no-call and should have been a called PI, but then no mention, not a word about the almost identical scenario when Sherman was defending the bomb and got OPI'd and pulled down by the intended receiver who then fortunately tipped it to Earl. No flag there either but not even a mention of OPI from the A team...
