I wonder if they have fallen into the trap of telegraphing plays. It's as if opponents know whats coming.
To date, the subject of telegraphing has been absent from discussions about on going offensive woes.
When you have 3 plays that you call, I guess you can call it telegraphing. It's amazing when you compare Peyton Manning, who basically throws 85% of his passes within 10-15 yards of the line of scrimmage, or Brady who is more of an intermediate passer in the 10-20 yard range with Wilson --whom Bevell has chucking bombs on 3rd and 3 like it's going out of style. Manning depends on his WRs taking 5 yard passes to the house. I think Bevell just doesn't understand the value of a first down. If it's 3rd and 5, why take such a low percentage play like throwing a 50 yard bomb? I guess the world will never know.
My best guess is that the Hawks have their ideology and follow it regardless of their situation. They think it's all about long bombs, but in my opinion it's all about extending drives. Of course I'd rather have a 50 yard bomb, but if it is 3rd and 6, I'd rather have a 9 yard completion that's successful 75% of the time versus a 50 yard bomb which may be successful 15% of the time.

Agreed with the above. RW was flat out terrible. Was bailing out of the pocket, locking onto first reads, inaccurate, etc.
Nobody on offense played well, but I honestly thought outside of the one scoring drive, RW really didn't give us a chance to win that day. I think he'd be the first to admit that.
I think/hope he bounces back in a big way, but he hasn't been himself form the last 3 games.
Here we go again. I saw nothing to indicate that he was locking onto his first read ,yet you've been chanting that mantra repeatedly. And 'flat-out terrible?' You aren't exaggerating just wee bit are you? Noooo couldn't be.
He WAS NOT 'locking onto his first read.' Most of the time his WR's were covered pretty well, held or knocked off their routes. I can buy the fact that he had an off day, but the painfully obvious fact that he was holding the ball forever waiting for any receiver to come open, while, yes, OBVIOUSLY moving his head and eyes around while SCANNING the field tells me he WAS NOT LOCKING ONTO HIS RECEIVERS. Would you give it a rest and stop trying to create a reality based upon a false pretense?
It takes WRs a LONG time to run routes that are 50 yards plus. You HAVE to be innovative. You have to take advantage of the entire field. This team thinks too highly of the deep ball. You could see during the game, if the WRs were to cut off their routes short, they would have been wide open. The defense is playing this team for the long ball, they have their defenders deep --when that happens, you MUST ADJUST and start throwing short or intermediate plays. Just compare the one TD drive in the 2nd half --you had 3 great passes in the intermediate range. Earlier this team, at times, took advantage of shorter routes. On one successful 3rd down conversion, you had an 8 yard in route by Lockette. There were other times when the passing game was successful --a bubble screen to a WR got 8 yards, a short crossing pattern had another success.
The place this team failed miserably were all the 3rd down bombs it threw. One one 3rd and 3, when the team was driving around mid field --this one i was the most pissed of all --Tate ran a shorter route, but the other 3 WRs all ran 50 yard go routes. On a freakin 3rd and 3. Obviously the 50 yard bomb by Russell was not successful.
