Our Toughest Opponent This Sunday...

Will not be Aaron Rogers (if he plays). It will not be the bad weather at Lambeau. Our toughest opponent will be the referees. Officiating in the NFL has been absolutely horrid the past few years and keeps getting worse. Not sure if anyone else saw MNF the other day but the Steelers won on the result of some of the most egregious calls I have ever seen. The Packers are also a team who always seems to get all the calls. They are favored teams of the league (the Steelers already stole a SB from us). We've been screwed on a few calls this year already. Mark my words Russel will have to play and play out of his mind for us to win. Because the referees will be sure to call some total BS against us.

Expect phantom holdings, a BS roughing the passer, and of course, the league's new favorite call, a taunting penalty for looking in the wrong direction.

I don't know about that but Russell has been absolutely horrible in Green Bay so hopefully that will change this weekend.

This referee thing this year is totally out of control, I see your concern and agree.

I am already getting pissed off thinking about all the things that could go wrong in this game. And yes, The NFL refs and their love for legacy teams is definitely one of them. I'm also picturing Aaron's smug face and how he probably won't miss a beat. That annoying "Go Pack Go" song. Russ struggling as usual in GB, dumb play-calling, more woulda coulda shoulda BS resulting in another frustratingly close loss.

Oh well, at least we'll always have this.

gotta tell you i DID watch the MNF game. I missed the Mannings - the only thing that really makes MNF relevant or digestible.

The taunting call was COMPLETE bullshit. The whole game wasn't 'XL' - but it was pretty fing close. I barfed.

Honestly - these are the types of games that make me/people stop watching. If it's as fixed as the WWE - and I can't help but notice that they are in bed together most of the time lately - I'm gonna keep barfing, and then tune out.

Between the calls, and the overt double standard on the AR situation with COVID - they just keep losing integrity to me - not that there was 'alot' left to lose.

It sucks. It sucks 'blue whale' (waynes world reference). I've seen too many 'taunting' penalties decide games so far this season.

The Officiating this year has reached new heights of absurdity. It is ruining the game of NFL football. I would not be surprised that the attendance will start dropping off.

Refs and weather are valid points but rest assured, toughest foe we'll be facing come Sunday will be Aaron Roger's @ home. Their defense isn't chopped liver either....

I dont know. The thing that fueled the rise of this era of hawks was the blatant disrespect for the franchise across the league. Even during the holmgren years, there was still the sort of benign hostility and bias that existed. PC put together a cast of characters that demanded respect and I think the ingredient that's been missing for a few years now is that extra chip that the team had historically shouldered after decades of doubt.

I think for whatever 'juice' AR and the Pack will get from his return and the 'Saviour' complex he's trying to harness with his anti-vax BS , the Hawks will counter with a healthy dose of STFU and GTF out of the way. As unlikely as it may seem, if the Hawks have it in them to make some noise this year, I think we see it in a big way against GB.

This team i think knows and now feels that the legacy of the old PC Hawks and the Legion of Boom is dead. And every team / year since 2014 has been a continuation of living on the coat tails of that legend. It died 4 years ago but the mental idea I think amongst the players and even coaches was that they were still the same team. They haven't been. But 10+ win seasons can make you believe that you are.
They're 3-5. Have been embarrassed like no Hawks team has before. And now they have it in their power to write their own history in pretty spectacular fashion.
We will see if they can do it.

The toughest opponent is going to be Pete's playcalling and preparation.

We go in with 3 things we want to do, regardless of weather, opponent, defense, or even the effectiveness of the players attempting to execute.

Beating GB means beating a smarter coach while whipping out a worse gameplan and failing to adjust to anything that is working or not working throughout the game.

The refs are likely to be a problem because they have been a problem for half the league all year.

But I doubt it will be 'Bears' game' bad, and even so - it is a lesser issue than the above.

We can still win if we can keep it close, but that more depends on AR having a bad game and Wilson coming back perfectly sound while having a good game.

Possible. But unlikely.

Ultimately our worst opponent is ourselves, or more accurately, the piss poor gameplans we roll in with and the abject failure to adjust in-game.

I've been here a long time, I don't think I've ever seen a pre-emptive blaming of the refs.

Have you not seen how terrible they have been the last couple years? They absolutely destroyed us with some "uncessary roughness" calls in key games (namely 1st AZ game last year and Titans game this year). Additionally the refereeing I have seen around the league has been absolutely horrific. Drive extending taunting calls? Phantoms holds. And it always seems to go the way of the legacy teams. Especially at home. Trust me, there will be some fishy stuff come sunday

Yes I've seen a lot of bad reffing this year, but to make it sound like the refs are coming after us Sunday is a head scratcher for me.

Why the Hawks? Why not the Packers. Rodgers is the one that embarrassed the league, you'd think the league would want to punish him more than the Hawks.

Because the Packers are a legacy team. The league loves nothing more than to have teams like the Packers, Stealers and Cowboys in the hunt.

Oh yes, the legacy team conspiracy theory, one of my favorites.

Someone needs to tell the Browns, Bears, Jets, Dolphins, Raiders, Bills, Vikings, Chargers and Cowboys about this sweet reffing deal all the legacy teams get........cause they haven't won squat in a long time, or ever.

I expect a steered game towards the Packers, but I think craptastic play calling and schemes by the coaching staff of Seattle will play a bigger role in the game. I fully expect a loss in this game.

I thought about this game long and hard and the refs were a factor I didn't consider...

Regardless, the only factor I could find for the Hawks winning this game is because everybody thinks they can't. Remember the Saints game years ago the beast mode quake?

I could think of many really good reasons of why the Pack should win this game but I know that conventional logic doesn't apply to the Seahawks... It just doesn't!

I know that Pete lives for this moment. He will have his team ready to go and NOBODY can argue the FACT that when Russell Wilson is on the field, not only does conventional thinking fly out the window, but magical things are possible because he is that good....

I would not bet against Russ, Carroll or the Seahawks... I just wouldn't...
