I know it's on the 7th game of the season, but imo Sunday is huge. If they could be sitting at 4-3, with 6 of the final 9 at home? They have a real shot. Completely different team at home, and after what we saw them do vs. the best team in football MINUS some of our main guys, they can play w/anyone.

Totally agree. Winning this one opens up a serious shot a the playoffs.

Maybe they will gimme a birthday present....a win. That is all I ask for.

Right now we stand at 3-3. If 10-6 is the goal, then that means we either win 3 games we're not expected to win, and lose 3 games we're not expected to lose

Realistically, with 10 more games on the schedule, I predict that we could go 7-3. We could be upset against the 49ers, and win two out of the three tough games we're expected to lose...against the Chargers, Chiefs, and Rams. Or, we could win one out those three and take care of the opponents we're favored to beat. I think the Chargers could prove to be the hardest with Bosa coming back, while I believe we could surprisingly beat the Chiefs and Rams. If the Chargers were weak defensively, I would say Phillip Rivers is going to make mistakes. But the Chargers game is the one that makes me truly nervous. The good part is, most of our tough games remaining are at home, and I definitely trust this team at home

What would really excite me is if we beat the Lions AND the Chargers. Then, we're sitting at 5-3, and worst comes to worst we can possibly afford a couple of down game against the Rams, Chiefs, Panthers, or Vikings. Going 2-2 against those teams. And going 3-0 against the 49ers and Cardinals. Sweet

One thing to remember when trying to project wins and losses into the future is that the worse team still has a 20%-49% chance of winning a given game in the NFL. If you're looking at three games and expect the Hawks to lose them all with a 1/3 chance of winning each, then the expected outcome is actually winning one and losing two. Similarly a team that "should" win a bunch of games is statistically likely to drop one or two.

The other big factor when there are still lots of games left in the season is that the games are not independent with each other. Winning one game bumps up the likelihood that you will win in the future while losing reduces it. On top of that individual player health can be a single variable that affects the entire remaining season, and so playoff odds calculators at this point in the season are mostly rubbish. At this point we'd all intuitively put the Rams at 100% for making the playoffs, but how would people feel on Monday if they lost this weekend in ugly fashion after suffering a few key injuries?

I do think this week is important but that's mainly because just about every game matters in the NFL.

Must win or not Seattle is good enough to win in Detroit and they have to get it done. Going 3-4 with our remaining schedule is going to seriously degrade there hopes of making the playoffs.
