I know, I know, wayyy too early. But I can't help but think about it.

The best team by far in the AFC is Denver, a team that's difficult to match up with on offense and probably our most difficult match up. But I remembered something, Manning has been not so good in cold weather. And where is the SB? Open air, cold, snowy, NY!

In fact, Manning is awful in cold (sub 40) weather playoff games:
0-4 Record
92-163
4 TD
9 INT

3 of those TDs came last year at home.

So if we do work the next 15 weeks + NFC playoffs, we may have an advantage in the SB.

If you want to crown them then crown their ass but its week three and they may have lost Ryan Clady for the season.

And he might only be out a few weeks. And if we're talking about left tackles, we're still waiting to hear how long Okung will be out for.

It seems very, very early in the season for any fanbase to be talking Super Bowl, but I guess a lot of Hawks fans have been doing it since the offseason.

Funny thing is I remember more humility from Pats fans after the team had already gone 16-0 in the regular season in 2007.

I'm not even remotely bitter. As I said on these boards before the game, I was expecting the 9ers to lose, and would only be concerned if 1) they got blown out, or 2) they lost at home against the Hawks in Week 14. #1 happened so I'm concerned (as I said I'd be), but I'm not bitter. The Hawks played a hell of a game on defense and okay enough on offense (as Carroll himself noted) and the 9ers played like they don't even belong in a playoffs conversation. It happened.

It may just be that I'm a cynic, but my point was that despite the Hawks being a great, great team, I am surprised by the frequency and confidence with which fans on the board talk about the Super Bowl as if it's a given. Pats fans, who had been to a lot of Super Bowls and had gotten used to being the best team in the league, recognized this even after they'd gone 16-0. There's just so much variation in what can happen, even to an awesome team like the Hawks. I mean, the Hawks are awesome, but were also an overthrow away from losing to horrible looking Panthers team and being 1-1. The NFL is really unpredictable is my only point, and I'd say the same thing to ANY fanbase (including my own) cashing in Super Bowl tickets at any time before the Super Bowl, let alone in Week 2.

Hope this makes sense, and it's really not meant as a dig.

Anyway who said it would be cold and snowy in New York? They are further south towards the equator than we are. Hell it might be 50 degrees and clear.

And like Leif said, we've played 2 games of a 16 game schedule. I'm really tired of this SuperB owl talk for a team that hasn't even won their own divison yet.

If I was Andrew Luck and had all the suck he seems to have with the NFL I'd be on the phone calling and begging them to switch this nexts weeks game with SF to anyone else.

I think the ninnirs will come out looking to take out last Sunday's frustrations on what ever poor bastard team is put in front of them.

And on that same token, Russell Wilson and his enormous hands will have no trouble throwing the football in cold weather.

I think a Denver Super Bowl is almost inevitable. Look at who challenged them last year - New England and Baltimore. Both of those teams got taken to the woodshed personnel wise this offseason. Who else could it be? Texans? Bengals? Dare I say chiefs???

For a franchise that has been to ONE SuperBowl I think we need to tap the brakes on all this talk about SB. Trust me, I'd LOVE and WALLOW in the idea but MUCH can happen in the next 3 and a half months. Injuries, setbacks, generally filling the diaper on a Sunday afternoon, and other unforeseeable things (an example, a locker room skirmish.. although hard to imagine with this group) could all rise up.

Enjoy what is NOW. Tap the brakes.

And, in the end if all this prophecy holds true the cham-PAG-NE at the finish line will be that much more worthy getting a headache over. :snack: :thirishdrinkers: :snack: :thirishdrinkers: :snack: :thirishdrinkers:

And, as for this week, I don't see a let down... I see a methodical and professional ass-kicking.

Why can't we discuss something that we aspire to and additionally have the talent to do?

We're not players, we don't need to focus on next weeks game. Hell, we had constant discussions last year about the QBOTF.

If it is your goal to passive aggressively piss on Seahawk fans in every thread then you are doing a pretty good job.

As fans we can talk SuperBowl all we want to. It doesn't make a difference either way for reality.

Let the guys who want to talk about it dream all they want. Whether they talk about it or you try to make them shut up, it won't change what happens.

Exactly. Doing anything else just makes a person sound bitter.
