OL ran the counter gap play multiple times today

It was very interesting to see the offensive line running the old counter gap play where two linemen (LT and LG) pull around to the other side and lead block for the running back. This was a play that was made famous by the Redskins back in the 1980s with their “hog line“. Hawks ran the play today multiple times with good success. The line overall looked much better today.

They seem to be going away from the zone stuff. Hope it continues with this line

We ran 16 GAP vs 5 zone for Charbonnet.

What they did worked! Give Grubb the points he is due. This was by far our best rushing game of the year. Our future opponents will certainly take note of that. It should help our passing attack become a greater threat. Balance is key to consistent success.

I have yet to get to see the game, but it sounds like just what the doctor ordered. So nice to hear we had a successful running game today.
