We're ten days out and Seahawks uniform number 10 has special meaning for me.
It obviously hasn't been retired, because Uchenna Nwosu is using it now.
But like Seahawks uniform numbers 28 and 79, 10 is a number I'll probably always see as "belonging" to a specific player from my childhood and/or adolescence.
And 10 happens to have been the uniform number used by my first childhood sports hero, Jim Zorn. In 1976, I had chosen the Seahawks as my team and I had taken over as the preferred QB in neighborhood football games, so it was natural that I would identify with the Seahawks' quarterback. It didn't matter to me that he was left-handed (probably still is!) and I wasn't (still am not).

I've mentioned it multiple times here, but I'm mentioining it again: one of the greatest sports-fan moments in my life was gettting to tell Zorn to his face in September of 1984 that I had had his autographed picture framed on my wall in Kennebunk, Maine for years. I've also posted an image of the autographed picture in the frame I bought for it back in the '70s, and I'm now posting it again as the pic I choose to represent Seahawks uniform number 10.

Very nice! The mugs even show a left-handed Zorn!

One of the greatest passers in the history of the league.
For his career, Ryan had a 75% completion percentage, a passer rating of 116.7, a whopping 13.5 ANY/A, and the greatest "throwing face" (shown above in @12AngryHawks's post) the league has ever seen.

I understand he also did some punting. That kind of versatility is really valuable.

That pic always makes me lol. We've had some great team punters. I know, not the position that makes you think glory days...but still part of the family.

I love how JR was always a true 11th defender. He had decent size and didn't shy away from making a hit when needed.

Jon Ryan wore many hats. Not only was he an NFL punter, he was also...

One of our most underrated QBs in team history. No, he didn’t have the gaudy stats, pro bowl or All Pro appearances but he had that “it” factor. Gutty, gritty, laid it all out there. Holmgren didn’t care for him but I always liked him. Great guy too.

Always rooted for him.

JK is one of my all time favs. I always wonder what he could’ve become had Holmgren embraced him. I think he has more accolades with the Seahawks than many know. He won quite a few player of the week and player of the month awards and had some really gritty comebacks that made him a fan favorite.

What he did after he left the Seahawks was nothing short of amazing. He may not have HOF stats, but he had a highly respectable career by the numbers. Almost 30,000 total passing yards for his career across 15 seasons.

We ended up OK with Hasselback, but I still wonder.

I think Kitna reminded Holmgren of an untamed, raw Favre. He spent a lot of time reeling Favre in early in his career so I think Kitna gave him flashbacks of having to start that whole process all over again. Dunno, just a feeling I always had.

I remember something like that too. He went off script too much and didn’t have the pedigree to get away with it. He was also an Erickson holdover, so not one of Holmies guys.

Props to Holmie later...he acknowledged that Kitna was a better quarterback than he initially gave credit for and rooted for him a bit after he left.
