There's only one player I can actually remember wearing number 45 for the Seahawks. I can look it up and see that two other guys used it briefly, but Seahawks uniform number 45 has been retired for the Hall of Fame player who wore it in '81-'87.

I watched whatever Seahawks games I could get on TV in Maine, so I saw our #45 a bunch of times on TV. I also got to see "the" Seahawks #45 play live twice: in September of '84 and September of '86 in Foxborough. In '84 he had a punt return. In '86, Bobby Joe Edmonds was returning punts (six for 107 yards, and I'm not sure if this had any effect on the late-in-the-fourth-quarter blocked punt that .NET's new friend @Themoyers21 recovered in the Patriots end zone to tie the game at 31 once Norm Johnson hit the extra point).

In the '84 Seahawks game in Foxborough, the eternal Seahawks #45 also had an interception.

Because I grew up all the way across the continent from Seattle, I depended on the national media to give me Seahawks news, and after years of them basically only talking about Largent and trick plays (fake field goals and whatnot... I know whose pic I plan to post in this thread on September 7, one day before the Seahawks season starts), in '81-'82 they started talking a lot about #45, and in '83 there were so many national story lines that I was in pig heaven. They talked about Chuck Knox. They talked a lot about Curt Warner. And of course they talked about #45 and the first-team All-Pro season he had in magical 1983, the first of three years of dominance so complete by our 45 that the national media had to recognize it.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame ended up recognizing #45's greatness too by inducting him in 2017. The Seahawks officially retired his uniform number, and so the player who did the most with Seahawks uniform number 45 will always and forever be Kenny Easley.

No. 45 will always be THE Seahawk for me as he is literally the reason i'm a fan. My dad was in the army when i was a kid and we were stationed at Ft Lewis in '82 and 83'. A guy he worked with was Easley's cousin and offered to take my dad and i to a game - Kenny would give tix to his family members to attend. My dad ended up not being able to go, but i did. Coolest thing was that we were supposed to meet up with him after the game to grab dinner. So, for 4 qtrs (while we were lambasted by the NYG), 80% of me was destracted in anticipation of hanging out with an NFL player. We waited at the player's exit after the game but Kenny never showed. We found out after that he was dinged up pretty good in the game and was held late for treatment. Nevertheless, its an experience that i will never forget and one that shaped my football fandom. Like you, after we left the PNW, i got whatever Seahawks news i could from wherever in the US (and world) my dad was sent - but i was always keyed into how good a game 45 had; him, Warner, Largent and Krieg... they were my football Gods. Prior to that game, i was an Eagles fan (for those many years between the ages of 5 and 9).

Seahawks blue and green ever since. Every game, every season, for better, or for worse.

Oops. Jumped the gun by 3 minutes but he’s worth it. Such a smooth RB. I try not to think about his “business decisions” running out of bounds instead of pushing for those extra yards and taking some hits towards the end of his career like Alexander.

Both were excellent backs for us.

We're 41 days from the Seahawks' first regular-season game of 2024.
I'm gonna go with Eugene Robinson.

As you're all tired of hearing by now, I grew up in Maine and went to Seahawks games in Foxborough in '84 and '86. The '86 game had a better final result, and is actually one of the best football games I've ever watched. The Seahawks went up early, then fell behind for some time, by as much as 10 points (three times, the third being in the fourth quarter), but they kept battling back. The game was a back-and-forth battle despite relatively few lead changes. The Seahawks blocked a punt and .NET's friend @Themoyers21 recovered the ball for a special-teams TD to tie the game at 31 once Norm Johnson hit the extra point.

By the way, that was the second time the Seahawks had blocked a Camarillo punt in that game. In the five seasons plus two games (1981-85 seasons, first two games of '86 season) that Camarillo had played in the NFL before that game, he had never had a punt blocked.

The Patriots tried passing and were off the field quickly. Krieg hit Ray Butler, who was really far from all the defenders, in stride for a monster TD. Johnson hit the extra point, and the Patriots got the ball back needing a touchdown to tie instead of just a field goal to win. The Seahawks gave up a lot of yardage, including a first down on third and 25. On the last few plays, the Patriots started getting cute with laterals after completions. On the last one, the guy who caught the ball quickly lateraled it to his teammate Craig James. James was trying to advance with the ball when the Seahawks stripped the ball from him and it ended up in the hands of #41 Robinson with just seconds to play.

EDITED to add: Robinson was an all-time great undrafted-free-agent signing.
