This makes complete sense. Jody Allen was never the owner and she never had any powers of the owner. She is just a name on the paperwork until the preplanned 2024 sale of the team. Preplanned in the sense if Paul passed before the May 2024 date.

Pete and John's jobs are safe until that date.

I don't remember where but I read an article or saw an interview or something where some sort of financial expert was looking at the Seahawk's financials and he said that everything he saw makes him believe that the company is getting ready to be sold.
